I took my granddaughter to see next door's puppies today :) To my surprise she wasn't wildly enthusiastic about them - I think she was a bit thrown when their male Boston came up to say hello and rather got in her face. After all, he does look rather different to the cocker/cavapoos she's used...
If the Apoquel works, I would go with that - IMO it's worth a hypothetical long-term risk if it improves her (and your!) quality of life now. Though I would ask your vet about the possibility of fungal infections (and diagnosis/treatment/cost of treatment) when you next see them.
I'm sorry...
I've no advice to give on her skin issues, but none of this, including Biddy's behaviours is your fault. She was a very disturbed stressed dog when she first came to you, and she needed whatever you could do to make her happy. Dogs aren't automatons, we can't, and shouldn't, get them to do...
Hi, and welcome to the forum. Unfortunately, I can see a few problems with what you're hoping to find.
The main issue is that for a dog to stand up to intruders and protect you, it has to have an underlying level of insecurity... otherwise it would be like a labrador and lick intruders to...
I would try a different sort of bowl - sometimes a dog can be upset by the reflections off metallic bowls, or by the chink of their collar against a bowl. I would try anything, from earthenware bowls to plastic, to your own mugs. If there's any clean streams locally, you could take her there and...
At a very quick look, if I was living with someone and bought/adopted a dog, then the 'someone' left, they could take the dog with them. It doesn't seem to account for the possibility that only one party would 'own' the dog. Which doesn't feel right to me.
Hypothetically, of course...
1. Yes, depending on contents.
2. Things that I might forget, or not easily available when I arrive: poo bags & treats spring to mind, maybe even a bag of 'emergency kibble'. Oh, and tick removers. But the things that would be really useful would be a bit too...
It's such a big subject, could you start a new thread in this section please? Dog Food and Diet Let us know what you've offered her so far, and what has gone down... and stayed down!
I've replied to your other thread on feeding, but just to pick up on one point - it's best not to leave a dog's meal lying around so they can pick at it as and when. It's best that at mealtimes they are a little hungry, and then eat it all in one go, giving their digestion a break before the...
You'll find any number of different opinions on this (which is mainly because rigorous scientific studies haven't been done, so opiniions are mainly personal experience, educated guesses... and unedicated guesses!). In my opinion, a raw diet is really healthy, possibly the most healthy diet. It...
