Only my opinion but I can't understand why titles are so important to people ever since i seen a dog get a title on a solo run, that doesn't proved anything to me, :- but a dog that wins his title 2 or 3 years in a row with some good competition is something special. ;) a lot won't agree but that's life. (w00t) di

When tig won his first and only title I remember having vandason and great pretender in my heat and Tazman beat hellbound in the first heat to go through to the final. First time up Tig got a really obvious fast trap so was re-run and Tig luckily won again in the re-run!

I sadly also remember every other dog that was either a title winner or runner up on the same day, i wont be a looser and post tho lol

Very impressive Sally, di

Can't remember, all I know is that when Blaze won G/J Bitch 2 weeks before the champs there should have been around 9 dogs in her weight group and when it came to the champs where were only 3 or 4 LOL.

I'm with Di though, I rate a dog on it's performance throughout it's career as a whole, not just on it's titles.

its not just titles that show a good dog, but to win one, i cant describe how it felt when my girls won theirs  or mum's face when susie & milli won theirs for her, luckily i've not (up to now) had a solo for one, personally a title on a solo wouldnt mean as much to me as the ones where my dogs have come out and shown they were best on the day, although its not anyones fault if there is only one dog in a class, as mum always says to me you can only run against/beat whats there

Satnins first title win at Kinsley in the heat was Mrs.Fleetwood & Avalanche, day got off to a bad start coz me & Phil cudnt get the car started,so close to not making the open, felt that we wr just goin down to add to the prize money and to make the numbers up!cudnt believe it when she won,it was a cracking battle between her & Mrs.Fleetwood tho.

HAVE TO SAY THIS

YOU CAN ONLY BEAT WHAT IS THERE ON THE DAY

SO ANY DOG THAT WINS A TITLE IS A CHAMPION

THIS IS MY OWN OPNION :clown: :clown: :clown:

I can't find what Hobgoblin ran against for her title and I presume your not interested in r-ups as I'd be here all night! (w00t)

I agree that solo title wins are dissapointing for the owner but like Ray says it's what's there on the day and I'm quite happy seeing our veteran dogs still running especially when you take Diane's comments on board about the dogs career as a whole. Like I said on the thread that probably got Carol posting it's not the titles I rate but the competition the dog's beat over it's lifetime.

I remember this race too Linda, Kerri was in her first NNWRF Champs and Blaze was 5 months old. It's funny how I seem to remember other people's wins better than my own. Perhaps it's being able to see their reaction to their win, disbelief, exstatic, crying, laughing, smiling...

One that sticks in my mind is Gary Gorton's Bella taking r-up at the BWRA Champs at Old Hall in 2002 (I think '02). Gary was so overjoyed at all the things that Bella had come through to rake r-up spot that I don't think anyone there could resist a little tear. (Sadly it was also the same day Dennis' Pleasure Shared after her 36lb Scratch heat was bitten at the end of the race and had to withdraw from competition and have stitches in her neck).

i shud ask about r/ups as i got plenty of those with mickey whizz against come on sue lol but then im sure we wud b here all night. (w00t) makes some great reading those that have posted their dogs ran against top class opposition 2 win their titles.

its kind of like the ultimate thing to go for your title. when we raced mickey whizz (no limit) he won the scottish derby once was r/up @ the scot derby twice, won the english derby twice and was r/up @ the champs about 3 or 4 times so its become like the ultimate thing to get now, with each dog. but i wudnt like to have a solo to get it. like has been said b4 though u can only run against wots there but to me it wud mean much more if my dog had to race 4 it. mind id like to win any race not just the title lol ;)

Our Crack O Dawn won his first titlel on a solo,,and made a mess of the heavy weight race,,,the next year,,he won his title again,,with dogs to run with,,for love or money cant remember who he beet, in the nwrf champ bend race,,i do remember he won the heat with a nose,,and a nose it was,,he won his class with a few lenths,,,we went home after his first nch bend champ title,,kinda disapointed,,but like Chris said in the whippet news,,you can one beet who turns up,,Im glad he did better the 2nd year,,made his first champ win,,a worth while win,,,Only know vivs merlin was in Robbies races,,,Rob won rch and nch,,no idea who he raced with,,he never ran the bends,,as was too scared to run him or any of the dogs on bends after the death of bj,,,I think one of the best dogs I ran was Georges Choice,,never won a title,,but won opens,,beeting very good dogs and bitches,,won classic too,,,,some dog,,never sired a litter either

There are good dogs who never win titles,,marillon won a rag ch or some other title,,not rch or nch,,look what he sired,,little bros won titles,,got less bitches lol

remembers the bros of marillion ub40 and dream vision,,who both won a few titles

I havent had a title with a dog of my own but loved it when Tora and Meeka won theres (mums and kims dogs) but we do it as a family so get as much pleasure

The only thing i wanted to win was a velvet jacket my Boo Boo never managed it not quite open class but still LOVED racing her, then i got my little Cleo and she won me one at the scottish derby BUT it was only the CONSOLATION and i was just as happy as if it was a title i was so proud of her.

And as for saving programmes we save them ALL (w00t) win or lose (w00t)
