Poor midas,

i hope he/she isn't affected too much by the attack,

Poor Midas, that looks awful. Does the mastiff owner take any responsibility for what happened?

That is nasty to the extreme. The dog shouldn't be out without a muzzle

I hope Midas gets over the trauma ok, bless xxx

nasty looking rips , Keep them clean with solution of Hibiscrub if you have any and then put Intrsite gel on and they will heal with no scar tissue at all . Unless of course you prefer stitching at the vets . Hope your dog isnt too traumatised by it all

Gosh that does look aweful....hope hes not too traumatised by it all, and it heals well.. :luck: :luck:

Midas is shocked but healing o.k. It hasn't affected his appitite, he eats like a pig, so thankfully he had

quite a bit of fat on him . It would have been a lot worse if he was skinny like a couple of the others.

I cleaned the wounds well. About 5 in all,the ones you can see are the worst. Decided not to have stitched

as I feel this sometimes seals in infection (if there is any) Not sure if I should bathe too often as it seems

to be drying up quite nice. There are 9 other dogs here who all want to be Drs and Nurses. So he is in living

room on clean vet bed or he would be licked to death. Will try Intrasite. Thanks for reminding me, I have used it

once before. Its excellent. Any other tips gratefully received.

I have posted on Non Ped about the other dog owner. Think I will send her a photo. Cheers.

Poor Midas.

The wounds do look like they will heal fine.

Intrasite is great but you do need to clean it off with saline solution before each new application.

Do not know the circumstances of the attack but any dog that attacks another should be muzzled most especially one of that size and power.

This makes me so cross  , your poor lad. I hope he heals quickly and without any lasting trauma.

Milo is now 7 months and my first boy for many years and I have noticed a lot of negative attention towards him from other dogs, mostly males. I'm not having him castrated but, as a matter of interest, does it cut down on the attention/nastiness from some other dogs?

Midas was done when he was a year old, and the dog that attacked him was also castrated but renown for being vicious.

No one with a dog can even walk past the house without it jumping up the wall at them. It barks, snarls and foams at the mouth.

God help any other dog it gets hold off.

Thanks I should have put that too

Dont let the wound heal over the top , try to keep it open so the wound can heal from inside first , thus not allowing any infection to get buried inside ,

Where is the joy is owing an animal like this? :( I hope Midas is healing and feeling better.

Poor Midas, I hope his wounds heal well and he isn't too traumatised by this. What a horrible thing to happen to him and for you too.

Midas seems to be healing o.k. Still havent heard from police. They were going to advise dog be muzzled

and kept on lead, but to be honest they are not interested. Its Dog on Dog they said and not an offence.

So thats a clear message to anyone. Take your dog down the park, let it tear shreads out of other dogs

knowing you cant be done for it. If you have a nasty dog you can have the park to yourself as anyone

else will be too frightened to go there.

This sort of thing annoys me with the police not being bothered with things like this , if this dog attacked your dog in a public place then they should be doing something this dog is classed as being out of control in a public place (according to the dogs act check defras site)

Mastiffs are large powerfull dogs which in the wrong hands can cause some serious damage to dogs or people if this dog is known to be aggressive its only a matter of time till it ends up attacking another dog / child or adult , its about time the police did something about out of control aggressive dogs of all breeds.

I hope your boy makes a good recovery and that he's not to unsettled by this attack xxxx

sorry to read about your predicamant with this dog and its stupid owner. having been on the end of such attacks over the last few years i know how you feel esp against the police, the law is an ass as far as dog on dog attacks go. i had one of my boys wilf savaged by a pit bull cross when he was a pup, he has never mentally recovered from the attack and it has help ruin his racing career, because whenever a dog came alongside him on the side he was savaged he was prone to have a go, which was such a shame as he was a top class racing dog. also one of my girls fizz who is only 16lbs was thrown in the air by a rotti last year whilst i was walking her only her jacket she was wearing saved her from serious injury. the problem is now both these dogs go ballistic when they see another dog off a leesh making them look aggressive but all they are showing is fear aggression. i know how you must be feeling esp against the other dog but it sounds like the owner is a complete tosser, has breeds like these should be looked after more carefully and kept in check ie muzzled and not let to run free in public areas. i hope your dog recovers well and is not mentally scared has my two have been. ps if you have no joy from the police take the pitures of your dogs injuries to your local council office and put a complaint in writing saying the dog is a bad accident waiting to happen has there are young kids playing in the area, this usually works.  good luck

There was a mastiff up here that had attacked a few dogs whilst on the lead and gotten away with it as the owners paid the vet bills, sadly while on the lead it killed a pomeranian, this time the pomeranian dog owner fought it and the dog was destroyed, the vets pushed the case also.

Still no word from police, even after I phoned then last Monday to ask if they had been to see the owner.

Was told that the 'Community Officer' who came to see me was on duty that day and a message would be

passed on to her to give me a call.(Which she promised to do anyway) 8 days later, still nothing.

Perhaps they think if they ignore me I will forget it. Heard she has daughter in force, so perhaps that

has something to do with it.

Thinking of putting in a complaint by letter, enclosing a photo. See if they ignore me then.

Midas has healed o.k. although he is a bag of nerves, as I am.

Many thanks for everyones good wishes. xxx

Not sure how I missed this ... poor Midas, poor you ... hopefully with more time he will regain his confidence :huggles:
