Hi this is Ernie and I show him but he has had a nasty experience with a judge who caught his fur in his fingers when checking his testicles and he is now very wary about being gone over when on the table for a judge to look over him, any advice would be appreciated. I just want him to relax and to know that not everyone is going to hurt him.

Welcome. Not a popular view, but one of the examples why I dislike shows. Moving on, I'd go for calming techniques and no doubt there will be some experts along shortly with a more informed view :) I do hope he's able to overcome his fear of people.

welcome @jayjay139 and Ernie! Oh that would defiantly put a spanner in the works wouldn't it - ouch!

I would say calming techniques and trying to change his mindset of that situation. The whole set up must be quite scary for him after that bad experience so you need to find a way to make it a positive experience for him again!

Is it only at shows? And if he gets stressed at shows is it really important to you to continue?

Yes it is important as it is a day out for me and my dog to enjoy meeting other people with the same interest. It is not just at shows now as he seems to think he had better get in first and have a good bark at people before they even say hello. Being a toy breed I can understand that humans must look huge when bending over them but he was not like this as a young pup
