Hi everyone,

This is our beautiful cocker spaniel puppy Teddy. He's 13 weeks old. Do you think Teddy looks like a show type, working, or a mix? Asking purely out or curiosity

I've said working, but I'm not an expert at all - I've just been comparing him with Google Images photos!

Show type, his ears are set quiet low and a heavier jowl than so many of the working type.
Do you have a pedigree? He could be a mix as you have suggested, he could still be a pedigree English cocker spaniel even if he was a working type X Show type and he could still be kc registered.

No, no pedigree his breeder said both parents were registered but doesn't reply to my messages so doubt I'll ever see their pedigrees. Mum was more of a show type.

The breeder can still give you a pedigree even if they have not registered the puppies.
If the mother was over 8 years of age or if she had already had 4 other registered litters, the kennel club will not register any more litters to the bitch.
The puppies can still be pedigree and exactly the same but without the Kc registration.
You have a lovely puppy, enjoy him!

Thank you, we love him. Well, I sent her an update of how he was getting on and had another question, but she doesn't reply or answer the phone so that's why I don't think I'll see the pedigree. Would be nice to know, anyway he's lovely he was sold as 100% show type but as he got older I don't think he looks typically show. He looks more so side-on than from the front lol. His ears look low set from the side but weirdly high from the front. I think he has more of a show type face. Hopefully, he has a show type personality too so far, so good.

Our puppies can look quiet strange during some of their growing stages.
I once had a show type, and while walking with her I was stopped by a complete stranger and congratulated on my Afgan puppy, and how lovely it was !

Completely understand what you're saying about the pedigree, I just don't think they'd reply if I asked for one... good idea though! Haha someone at work said "Aw cute a Labrador" when I showed them a picture of Teddy.

That’s bad of the breeder to not reply. They lady I bought Misty from has kept in touch for over the three years now. If I don’t send an update or photos for a while she always checks to see if everything is ok; and she always sends a photo and birthday wishes from Misty’s doggy Mum

Its nice when a breeder keeps in touch, our boy Max's breeder kept in touch for years and Murphys breeder gave us her FB name and sent a friends request the day we first saw him so that we could see all the updates and new photos.
Im still in touch with her and one of his brothers which is good for comparisons.

I know she was a really lovely lady and sent me pictures whilst we were waiting for him to be ready. But since we picked him up, heard nothing.
