Well, I'm after some reassurance... Jimmy has started leaving what we think is one or two very small spots of wee after he's been lying/sitting around. He's never done this before in the almost two years we've had him. He doesn't make a noise or move to indicate he's done it, it's just when he gets up, there may be a small spot left where he was lying. When I say spot, it can be a little spot smaller than the size of your small fingernail, or slightly larger about the size of a fingernail. The most he's ever left is two spots. We don't do anything other than dab it up when he's moved, there's no telling off or anything like that. He is weeing out and about as he always has done (poo is the same too!) and is drinking normally too, perhaps a bit more due to the hot weather. I noticed one of these spots a few days ago and thought nothing more of it, but he's done it a few times today. He's walked three times a day, and has a quick outing at around 9pm for a pee as well, and we're out the following morning at about 05.50 (he did cut short his late morning walk today, there was aloud bang due to nearby building work that scared him so he came home and only had one wee at this time). Coincidentally, he had a health check at the vets on Monday and everything was fine. His behaviour is unchanged.

Can anyone explain what might be causing this? I'm hoping it's a blip and will fix itself and I'm getting concerned over nothing... :( Thanks so much for any advice.

Just to clear, are you sure that it is urine?
No. All I can say is it's a urine-like substance. It's not coloured (e.g. no blood). I suppose it could be other fluid from that location, without getting too detailed.

.

Does it smell like pee?...
& I'd wipe it wth a white tissue, to be able to check color, too.

He may have a low-level UTI - I'd maybe get a bit of urine to culture, at the vet's. // The multiply-resistant bacteria that has now gone global is hard to knock down, & even harder to Dx. A cultured specimen is the only way to confirm, then check for susceptibility with various anti-Bs.

His urethra can be inflamed, which can cause leakage, or his sphincter muscle may be lax - a separate issue, which may need meds. // A belly-band with a disposable panty-liner will catch dribbles, til he's recovered. :)

Thanks for the replies. @leashedForLife - whilst we can dab the deposits, there's not enough really to smell, but I'll give it a go! He's just come up to bed, and didn't leave anything behind this time.

just thot of something else -
CHUCKS, the slang term for disposable bed-pads [for humans], which are unscented & have no "pee here" odorants, can be a big help, it's a highly-portable, easy-to-deploy spot for the dog to lie down w/out worrying he'll mark the sofa, the wall-to-wall, area rug, his bed, Ur own mattress, etc.
They're on average 2-ft x 30-inches, a generous area for a small to medium dog - the absorbent upper surface is usually white / pale blue / pale pink, the bottom is thin tough plastic, & is sky-blue, baby-pink, etc.
They weigh very little, & U can stuff 'em into a pocket, a backpack, waist-bag, or other to carry them along, for car-trips, office visits, & so on.

25 pads for 5 pounds sterling = 25 for $6.56, or 26 1/4 cents per pad. // Very inexpensive. :)
