14 m.o. Baby Miles vs 9 y.o. Pitbull.
Both had a great time, with give and take, and letting each other rest between rounds.

But this was a one and only match. Someone else reported the Pitbull as an aggressive dog to animal control, an officer came and gave them a warning, so he can no longer be off leash at the beach. Pity. Baby Miles could use more friends like this, who appreciate his Ridgeback ways of interactions, and can go the distance. There aren't that many around.

Me and the dogs watched your video.. Looks like they had good time. It was nice play too and I'm surprised to hear the Pittbull being reported being aggressive...what a shame indeed. I wonder...is it enough if somebody does claim the dog being aggressive, do they take any other views into account of is it automatic response and there is no right to reply for it?

We happened to be there next day when Animal Control officer talked with the Pitbull owner, so Miles and I offered our character testimony, and this very video as defense evidence Exhibit A. To which the officer responded “Great that he gets along with your dog, but it doesn't help if he doesn't get along with others”. Which makes sense, and apparently there were 2 different people complaining about him. Who knows... Some people are very uptight to begin with, hold their dogs tight on leash when another dog comes over... and maybe even more so when it's a Pitbull, so I can see how this can go wrong, add to this that some folks just like complaining to authorities...
At the end of the day - even with the friendliest dog, either you should be able to recall your dog if anything seems wrong, or you need to follow the dog around all the time, or you take chances that someone will misinterpret "playful" as "aggressive" and complain. Or maybe the Pitbull really was aggressive..
The officer seemed nice and reasonable to me, we gave our honest 2 cents, so let the chips fall where they may. This is not always fair, but it is what it is, I guess.

Ah..at least you were able to give your opinion and hopefully it helped to 'dilute' the complaints if there was a case they were not that fair. At least they are still able to get to the beach and not totally barred.

Looks like the 2 dogs had a great time,when I first heard about Pitbulls it was very negative and I thought why would people breed these dogs.I then started watching Animal Planets Pitbulls and Parolees and wow after watching 1 episode my attitude had changed on this misunderstood breed

Lovely to see him playing and very sad about the pit bull being reported.

I saw on Facebook this week about a lady in my area who has two dogs and she was reported by someone who told police that they resembled pitbulls. They weren’t doing anything wrong at the time.

the dogs were seized by police and kept in police kennels for 6 weeks whilst they appeal to get them back.

the strange thing is, the police won’t do a DNA test or allow anyone else to, to see if they even have any pitbull in them and if so how much.

I think they’ve won their appeal in that the dogs don’t have to be euthanised but they will have to wear muzzles and be kept on the lead at all times. Even though they’ve never shown any signs of aggression.

I understand that you need to be wary of certain breeds but if I’m honest I’m far more worried about the smaller ‘yappy’ breeds!
