Buddy1, I loved the His Dark Materials books - I don't think they're lowbrow at all ;)

I've just finished Sister by Rosamund Lupton, which I loved. I've moved on to The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson.

Did you see the BBC adaption of his dark matriels?

I'd like mine to be a bernese mountain dog or a bear

If it looks anything like my friend's Bernese, it could pass for both;)
A lovely breed!
Unfortunately, I didn't see the TV series.

Yes, but I don't tend to do drama series, or films. I'm not sure why - hubby can be glued to a film or series and even if I'm half watching, I'll usually be doing something else as well, and may go up to bed to read before it's finished. I'm also getting oversensitive in my old age - I had to ask him to watch Dirty Harry listening through headphones the other day because it was too violent for me  But then he feels the same when I'm watching a vet programme with graphic scenes of caesarians and prolapses!

I love the bear hugs berners give you. Ive found it amazing just how many people in the bernese community call them cubs instead of pups.

Season one was on last year , season 2 which is based on book 2 is on , on the 8th of november .
