Anyone put there tree up yet or started christmas shopping?

My tree and decorations went up yesterday i could not wait till December anymore. A lot houses on my street have had there decorations up for weeks and ive tried to wait till December but cant anymore. Im christmas mad its my favorite time of year and winter is my favorite season.

I was excited to put my tree up as i had saved all year and brought it in september its the 7ft noble fir from balsam hill and i love it its so beautiful.

I buy all my presents in the January sales so i have been finished for awhile. Already planning what im getting for mom and sister and newphew next year and will get them on offer in jan.

Food shopping for christmas already started my order for M&S i put in , in October i love there christmas food. And the rest is from asda which im going to have finished within 2 weeks.

We also have a christmas tradtion of having dominos on christmas eve while watching elf and then in the evening watching polar express my favorite christmas film while having a big slice of M&S's chocolate yule log cake with a hot chocolate.

Im looking forward to christmas this year.

Too early for me. In fact, I'm debating whether to decorate at all this year - not because I'm anti-Christmas, but we are supposed to be going away for Christmas (it was booked a year ago). If it goes ahead, I'd have to take the decorations down before the 22nd because we wouldn't be back until the 4th of January. So it really doesn't seem worthwhile.

I probably would not bother , or just put a few small decorations

I'm waiting to see if we actually do get away. There obviously is a risk it won't happen at all.

I do hope you manage to get away, Joanne.

November is too early for Xmas decs... But I've seen a lot more houses with their tree up than there normally are at this time of year and if people need something cheerful to look forward to, then fair dos! Ours normally go up about a week before Xmas Day.

Bearing in mind the potential shortages and delays this year, with the double whammy of covid and Brexit, I've pretty much got my shopping sorted - I usually get my groceries delivered, and I have all my slots booked. The only person I haven't got pressies for yet is my grown-up younger son, because he hasn't told me what he wants yet. Mind you, he and his girlfriend have just today had their offer accepted on their 'forever home', helped by Bank of Mum and Dad, so that's pretty much all his birthday and Xmas pressies for the rest of our lives :D

Xmas itself will be different - my mum, who is on her own and in her 80s, will be staying with us so regardless of the regulations, we won't be having my son & girlfriend round for meals. We can probably safely have them round for drinkies at opposite ends of the conservatory though.

No but this ^^^sounds amazing!

I have started my Christmas baking early, mince pies and cardamom bead, to fill the house with winter smells (and as there’s not much else we can do). Tree going up on 1 December for sure!!

How this conversation is going, somebody has to bring some 'balance' to it..'BAH HUMBUGH'! :D:D:D
I think that's about says it all.
I was brought up in 'Santa Land' and of course Xmas was a big deal and always with long traditions in preparation for it. But that was looong time ago and I stopped bothering doing all the fuss for it. I don't mind that other people have their enjoyment but it is not for me anymore. For purely selfish reasons I just cannot bother get excited anymore..so much hard work involved.
Saying that.......... yesterday I was reading this Finnish magazine and I saw picture of certain Xmas pasties...:p OOOOOHHHH.. the cravings hit me instantly...haven't had any of them for yeeeears. So today I have have some extras coming in with the shoppings and I'll be baking them. But they will be long gone before Xmas..;):D:rolleyes:

I have to join Finsky in the Bah Humbug lounge. I spent most of my working life on shifts that included working Christmas, so I am used to it being just another day.

Come the 23rd as a rule the gear would be thrown in to the motor and me and the dogs/dog would be off fishing. A 10 acre lake all to ourselves until the new year. Bivvy life on the banks.... arrr bliss,I love it and the dogs/dog love it. Total hassel free, just me the dogs, mother nature and a radio.
But this year my old girl isn't up to it,18 years old going on 19 she's feeling the cold more now. She had a good Sumner enjoying bivvy life,so this Christmas it's in front of the fire for her and me going mad with all the craziness.
HELP

We put the the tree up a couple of days ago and some lights on the front door. Dont usually do it this early but thought we could do with some cheer.
