Am I alone in thinking that this incident/replies to it were a massive overreaction?
I used to regularly feed my dog grapes and raisins until all this stuff about them was publicised - but since then she has stolen slices of fruit cake and biscuits (with chocolate on them) without incident. I...
I wish more people with dogs would have them castrated! They seem to think it is the bitch owner's responsibility always to deal with the 'contraception'! I had my bitch spayed and I think it has led to incontinence - although it is a major operation it seems to be one that young vets/not yet...
I second the advice given by metalchicken about Skinners. My bitch has hypoallergenic Skinner's Field and Trial Duck and Rice - it's about £20 for a bag of 15kg, but this lasts Ivy 2- 3 months with half a tin of meat to supplement every day. With Bakers/ Tescos complete food etc. dogs do a...
yes - my (then) 5 year old bitch Ivy, did not bleed much - I was prepared and had bought a pair of 'dog knickers' for her, but they were not necessary. I noticed the odd spot of blood in the kitchen near her bed and that was it. She was mostly confined to her bed for all the time that she was...
You have my sympathies! I have a similar problem with my whippet which started some time after we first got her. Don't know why - it seemed to just start out of the blue, but she usually wakes up at about 5am  - so annoying as it is always a bit late to get back to sleep, but also...
Skinner's Duck and Rice Hypoallergenic gluten free dry food - don't know why - flippin' Ivy woke me up at 5am the other night just so she could go out and eat the bird bread in the garden! She also has half a can of meat a day - no, not real meat!! either Winalot or Butcher's tripe.
Surely someone with a loving home, who has a history of caring for dogs (even if their old dog is not neutered) is a lot better for a dog than a long stay in a kennels or a foster home? It should also be remembered that ANYONE can buy a puppy with NO checking at all. We probably all know of...
Others might disagree - but, when I want to make sure that my dog drinks plenty (dehydration due to sickness, sun etc) I always put a little milk with her water. She thinks this is a real treat and it starts her drinking when plain water doesn't work. There's probably some reason why milk...
My bitch has never had pups but was a surrogate to a litter of 10 - the mother had to have a caesarian (which cost £500!) and she didn't bond with the pups, so Ivy looked after them, but obviously couldn't feed them! As far as I know they all survived.
Sorry to hear this. I have never heard of this problem, but you may want to start a new topic, using the diagnosis in the title just to get people's interest again. Good luck and hope you have some more positive news soon about Milo :luck: :luck:
I live in a split level house so my bitch had to go up and down the stairs just to get in and out of the house - I was a little worried about it, but I have to say it was not a problem for Ivy. The biggest problem was definitely the Elizabethan collar - of course, she looked just like Elizabeth...
My Ivy doesn't cock her leg like a boy - but she makes up for it with plenty of other boy behaviour - lots of humping (of legs and people sitting on the floor) and scratching the ground after a poo! And she's been spayed.
