    Excessive biting!

Yeah Giz is exactly the same... He loves sticking his tongue right inside your ear.. Gross! He does still get quite bitey when he gets over excited... Normally if we are sitting down trying to chill and he wants to play. Walks don't seem to help but we've found taking him out to garden and...

    Excessive biting!

There is light... Although I could cheerfully murder him right now as he's been tearing non stop round the house since early this morning. I don't know how such a small body holds so much energy!!

    Excessive biting!

Our Pug cross was terrible with his biting, to the point we debated if we could even keep him... However I'm happy to report that persistency with time out and distraction techniques has paid off. He's far from perfect, still has way too much energy lol but the biting has decreased and it's more...

Asking to go outside for the toilet

Just wish we were making progress with the biting :-(

Asking to go outside for the toilet

Giz is 8 months and was late at starting the toilet training game. He still doesn't 'ask' to go out but he's holding his toilet longer now he's older and we get more warning when he needs to go. He'll start sniffing and pacing whereas before he would literally just go with no warning. Sometimes...

My furry baby has a bite worse than his bark

Just to say I feel your pain... Literally. Our pup is 8 months old and an absolute nightmare. You have the advantage of starting your puppy off on the right foot though... Our pup had a rough start with different owners so trying to undo all the bad and it's not easy. Giz does exactly the same...

    Dominating behaviour from puppy??

Yeah Giz is the same. We also have been trying the redirection approach by sticking a toy in his mouth when he starts biting but at the moment when my friend is present he has no interest in his toys, just wants to latch onto her with his teeth. He has destroyed most of her clothing too with his...

    Dominating behaviour from puppy??

That's good to know. I just hope we can give him what he needs. We have so much else going on in our lives right now a dog was really not in the plan... Especially a badly behaved one. I hope we can adjust things and make it work. Sometimes I feel so angry that he has just been dumped on us and...

    Dominating behaviour from puppy??

JudyN - you have said what I think... I worry that due to his rough start (not from us but with his previous owners) It's ruined him. I know I should be more optimistic but I just can't see him getting any better.

    Dominating behaviour from puppy??

OK, so I think the best bet is to seek professional advice next week when we go up. Will either take him to the vet or to a trainer who can advise us on the best course of action. In the meantime will continue with what we are doing... Reinforcing positive behaviour and trying to ignore the...

    Dominating behaviour from puppy??

I hope it's this... As I feel this could be easier to overcome then real aggression.

    Dominating behaviour from puppy??

As for puppy's routine. He is walked every morning by my friend then given his food. My friend then goes to work for a couple of hours and the pup will chill out with her mum. He's generally pretty relaxed, happy to amuse himself with his chew toys or snooze. Then my friend comes back and walks...

    Dominating behaviour from puppy??

We aren't sure on breed, I think he's a Pug cross terrier. I'll suggest a behaviourist to my friend but I dont know if we can afford it... Are they very costly? As I said we did not plan for this puppy at all. We considered neutering but I have mixed feelings on this as I have heard from some...

    Dominating behaviour from puppy??

Do you think? Well we are heading back up to hers next week so we can help with training and getting him to classes. My friend is in a state at the moment because he's been relentless.

    Dominating behaviour from puppy??

Hi all, I posted on here quite a while back about my friends puppy who has been causing her issues. Quick back story: puppy wasn't planned... He was dumped on my friend by her sister who couldn't cope with him. He was not toilet trained at all and was displaying aggressive behaviour which we...
