I haven't been on this site for ages but saw your post and thought I would just tell you that two of my whippets are about to do their KC gold. Whippets are not the easiest dog to train, not because they're not intelligent but because, unlike labs and the like, they are not out to please (or at...
I know you will miss him but he went to bed with a biscuit, curled up with his best friend remembering love and warmth and comfort. No needles or smelly vet surgeries, no stress or upset. I sincerely hope all my beautiful hounds (and cats) go in the same peaceful and perfect way. Rest in Peace...
My adults get their short first thing walk before breakfast, a two hour (at least) off lead walk at about noon and in the light evenings a further early evening walk which can be on or off lead. They always have a last 10 minute lead walk before bed. We have a large garden so they have the run...
Just seen this and I am so sorry for the family and, of course, poor little Whistler. It happened to one of mine nearly three years ago and I shall never get over it and still miss my darling girl. Run free little lad xxx
Because I have three, I have done lots of heel work with all of mine separately and together. As a result my three walk really nicely on lead so it's not a problem but a friend asked me to walk his jrt and he pulls like a train so it was not much fun, even though he's only a little guy!
They are great and made me laugh. Mine will go through mud, water whatever if they're chasing but, if not, gracie positively tiptoes around the edge of muddy puddles and is aghast if little white toes end up little brown toes :'( . Milo is a complete cart horse and thunders around anyway
I know what you are saying but we had a labrador years ago that choked and died on a bone (raw not cooked) and that has left me paranoid about giving my dogs bones. My vet (and dog owner of a giant schnauzer and black labrador) refuses to feed bones because of the amount of raw fed dogs that she...
I know the raw versus everything else debate rages on and, without getting into that, I was interested to see Masta's photographs. Do you feed bones (raw obviously) ie chicken wings, lamb ribs? If you do, have you really never had a problem with any of your dogs having one stuck in their...
Hi there and welcome TGA, I'm not an expert but I certainly didn't do that much with mine when they were 12 wks and I am presuming he's about this age. I did 10 minutes walk a couple of times a day, getting him used to his lead and seeing cars, people, dogs etc, lots of play on a one to one...
Welcome! How elegant and beautiful is Jack. Sorry to hear about your JRT but what an age. My friend has a little wire haired jrt and her son does dog training with me. Walter doesn't have a bad bone in his body and sooooo clever.
