It looks like quite mild bruising that is visible due to no hair in the area...........not to be totally unexpected after surgery. Ask your vet if you are concerned.

Indeed you can! You can teach your dog to be perfect at home. BUT the reality is......once you take this perfectly trained dog out n public, with distractions such as: Other dogs (friendly or otherwise) Children Bicycles Prams Umberellas Any other named distractons you could care to...

She could perhaps be becoming senile? I have a 15 year old terrier and feel this is the case for him.

I think this post highlights the fact that dog training/socialisation should be an ongoing activity throughout the dogs lifetime.

How did you end up with 2 pups? Training 1 at a time is hard enough work. I would never,ever consider getting pups with at least 2 years between.

Being food orinitated can not be a bad thing when training.....focus is everything....introduce a toy/tug too! what is your objection to treat training'? Have you considered clicker training?

The only time my dogs are fed is when they are in their cages.......my, how they love getting into those cages............

It s a pup......chances are that when it wakes up.....it needs to empty......

You maybe want to check if this an arrestable offence before advising anyone?

Carrying even a small dog might get a bit tiresome after a short distance..........you could perhaps look at some of the pram/baby buggy type dog carriers available?

Why don't you take your dog to a dog training club where you can practice recall in a controlled environment? Dog parks..........to me that means somewhere that all and sundry let their dogs loose with scant regard to the possible outcome.........

Do you have a garden? If so, your dog may not need much input from yourself or your mother to 'walk' your elderly dog. Are you physically able to throw a ball for a few feet or play with a toy? You could do this while sitting on a chair.....but the dog still gets enough stimulation and time...

Have you had this GSD from a pup? Look into reputable dog training classes where your dog can meet others and develop his social skills and manners in a controlled environment.
