Nell suits my lurcher. And she can be a bit of a Nelly at times. I knew one called Tealeaf once: very appropriate! Then there's Mouse- the cat (he was very small) and his mate Monkey (so fitting!). Geronimo the rabbit I had as a child used to chase our Staffie round the garden (called Ella after Ella Fitzgerald), right past Nicodemus the Bullfrog's summer enclosure. Also, a cat called Franny Lee (ex a Man City fan) and a rabbit called Tasty Geezer (three year old daughter insisted). Unfortunately next door's dog agreed. As a Saturday girl in a pet shop I heard a small child name her new rabbit 'Scrambled Egg', wonder how that went!

I did forget to mention my daughter (now 18) when she was very little named her goldfish 'Gold' and 'Fish' (still can't beat AnnSa's Pete and Repete  ) And then there was my uncle's JRT 'L.B' aka 'little bugger'!!!

Not that original, but my younger daughter, aged 18, named her two goldfish (only pets allowed at uni) Fish and Chips. Sadly they didn't last long and were replaced by Christopher and Barbara (we did wonder what she was on), who are still going strong. Like Gold and Fish best though

My very practical son decided from the outset to name all his fish by number eg Fishy One, Fishy Two, Fishy Three etc. I think my precautionary tales about how fish do sometimes keel over had registered a little too much :teehee: The first lot, Fishies 1-4 only lasted about a year (never start off with fancy ones is my advice).

We are now left with Fishy Five, Fishy Six and Fishy Eight  It also makes identification easier - when people say, "What's that called?'' , we just say 'Fishy'.

Hebe. OH is a gardener so we went with a floral name, also we got her at the beginning of the year & Hebe is the Greek godess of spring.

Rafferty. Was going to be called Moss but it just didn't suit him at all. Rafferty just seemed to fit.

Scrumpy. Was a foster pup called "pup pup". we went to Cornwall on holiday & decided she was staying so after rejecting "Hairy Cornflake" (w00t) she became Scrumpy as she's orange & fizzy.

My ferrets are called Bungee, Frisby & Slinky.

Cats are Squirrel, Kitty Crumble, Tansy, Loki, Tipsy & Webster.

Pepa we got as a puppy and she is the colour of pepper so that is her name.

Phoebe she is our rescue and all ready had that name and we liked it so it stayed was thinking of blue for abit but she anwered to phoebe.

Pagen well as you all know he is a Sliplet and we wanted to stay with the 'P's also we were all doing the weather bit in memory of Storm (stormydog)so his offishal name is Hail Pagen . and he can be a bloody Pagen at times :teehee: .

Midas------after King Midas who made the wish that everything he touched turned to gold. (he is the colour of gold)

Busta------after Busta Rhymmes the rapper.

Ebony------because she is black.

Fen.--------a mix of Fay and Ned, his sire and dam. He was also born near the area of the fenlands.

Loxley-----a friend named him.Robin of Loxley had a deerhound and we were near Nottingham Forrest at the time.

Daisy------she had that name when we adopted her.The lady that rescued her said a pretty name for a pretty girl.(she is nothing like a little flower!!!)

Belle-------came with her name. She is known as Bellybutton at home.

Frankie.---just liked the name.

Belle and Frankie are not on my signature as they are the latest additions.

Except for Beau for was a rescue and we didn't change his name, all our dogs are name after characters out of books. Albus was after Albus Dumbledore out of Harry Potter although he too was already named. Diesel was after Diesel out of Thomas the Tank Engine. Rebus was named after the detective created by Ian Rankin.

Riskit - named after a terrier my Grandfather bred who turned out a bit more cautious than the usual Irish Terrier!!!

Jilly the deerhound - came with her name

Logan the Irish Terrier - came with his name

Dill the Ormskirk heeler - arrived as Dylan aka Dylan the Villain - but because he's too small for 2 syllables and much too nice to be a villain and because the week before he arrived (unexpectedly) I'd been in Latvia, where they served dill with everything - I'd been thinking that Dill would be a cool name for my next dog.............spooky eh? Anyway, I watched the Herbs as a child too ;)
