1st Nationals

And well done all the Scottish Crew who travel 100s of miles to get to these champs.! PROUD OF YOUS ALL.!

I don't normally have trouble with Quicktime files, but I just keep getting a Quicktime Q with a question mark! I have checked everything I can think of, and even downloaded the application again and repaired the installation. The add-on is enabled in Explorer - oh I know, I'll try in Firefox

No, can't see it with Firefox either - any ideas Nigel?

Ahh June - you are missing out - it is FAB! and running great on my new pc! ;) :p :-

Download the file from here (right click & save as) & save it to your local PC. If you haven't downloaded the QuickTime software get it from here, install it & use it to play the downloaded .mov file.

I've tried the web addon viewer from both Firefox & IE8 & both work ok from here, but download the file separately & use the standalone player & you should be ok.

I clicked the bit where you said to download from, but that just brings up an Explorer page with the blue Quicktime Q with a question mark in it?????? I have downloaded Quicktime, and have viewed your files with it before - so I'm foxed

Same here Junny I can't watch it either  I'm doing the same as you and it's happening on my laptop as well

Nigel, as all these oldies are having trouble (w00t) could you not just put the piccy on just before the line and the frame of them going over the line

Right, for us oldies  I found this information which might help someone, but it didn't work for me!

2007-11-05: You are seeing a blue question mark and a QuickTime logo on lots of websites. The contents should be playing in Macromedia Flash Player, but you see an error message from QuickTime instead. What's the problem?

You have Apple's QuickTime player software. Recent versions of Apple's QuickTime player software sometimes consider themselves to be the official player for Flash file formats as well. Unfortunately, they can't actually handle some Flash files. So you see the question mark... And no useful error message! Way to go, Apple.

Ouch! Can we fix it?

On Windows, yes— there is a simple fix which I will describe below.

On MacOS X, a similar series of steps usually does the job just as well.

How To Solve The Problem On Windows

Just follow these steps (for Windows— see below for the Mac):

1. Click the "Start" menu

2. Double-click "Control Panel"

3. Double-click the "QuickTime" icon

4. Select the "File Types" tab

5. Click the "+" sign to the left of "Miscellaneous"

6. Make sure "Flash media" is NOT checked

7. Click "OK"

8. Close the control panel

9. Restart your web browser (don't just refresh the page, exit Internet Explorer, Firefox or whichever browser you use and start it again).

As that didn't work for me, I dug deeper and found that if you start Firefox in safe mode, it will play the file

That would have been impossible to decide without the hi-tech camera equipment. The decision without the video camera would either have to have been a dead heat, or the naked eye may have gone with any of the three dogs. Even a majority decision may not have been the right one. The Nationals are so up market :teehee: Where else would you get getting the right decision to be of such importance? Bloody brilliant!

I know everyone has said it but I must add my 2 pennorth!! What a FAB<FAB day. Thanks to all our wonderful committee for all their tremendous hard work and specially Judy for the HOURS and HOURS of work on our lovely smart and CHEAP passports!! It was a day to remember for ages, so many wonderful races, whippet racing as it used to be and should ALWAYS be. Great fun good friends lots of chilling and chats but as soon as racing started, quick, smooth efficiency WELL DONE EVERYONE for a truly great day. I was thrilled with my little Darkling Dragonfly, a real little "nearly" dog , so close so often and at last a Vet Champ at 8 years, the first time she's won ANYTHING!! Bless her. Thank you Alan for trapping her all day, and a huge welldone to all the winners and all the doggies whoran their socks off and came in in one piece. Oh yes , a special welldone to Guinea's best friend Callum, my best buddyPam's Running Spikes, vet, Champ so well deserved too.Longing to see the pics. Horrible drive home with the 303 closed and a very hot car but not even that could spoil the day, Oh boy, did I feel for the poor Cornish contingent. See you all next week lol

congratulations to all the winners & finalists

well done to all to all the scottish dogs

derek & mandy , brian & nette your pups done you proud

I wonder how many people have traveld home in the past feeling unsure????? i know i have :- . But thats all in the past thank heavens for the Nationals bring Championships into the 21st century

Too right June. It makes you wonder why we have been racing in the dark ages for so many years - thank goodness for the NPWRA

I am sat here with one of my lovely glasses that my darling boy won for me. I have opened the bottle to toast him, and the Nationals, and all that is good in racing at the moment. I won the bottle on Sue's fabulous bottle tombola - perfect

I hate to say this but it wasn't the dark ages a couple of years ago. Please don't forget that. Not saying this to start a row, but just because it is so easy to forget, 40 years of the WCRA. I know it is the past, but the past is part of now and I hope the future.

I don't think that any of the racers who were at the Nationals on Sunday have forgotten racing with the WCRA Bertha.

Glad to read that the new camera has been a success. I think that it was a very good buy and it's improved the racing experience for all of us, which is what everyone who puts on a race meeting wants.

I hope that everyone got home safely and sorry to read that the South West folks had just a bad journey.

This old dear hasn't seen the video yet but I saw it on the day. I think that all the line judges got the same result btw. As someone who line judges a fair bit it's very reassuring to be able to ask for confirmation that the decision is right.

There were two ladies who were absolutely buzzing about the video camera Barbara, having been able to look at the video themselves - something that has never been allowed elsewhere, you liked it or lumped it  There can't be many of us who haven't felt we were on the end of a bad decision at one time or another, and it is surprising how happy it made these two ladies to know that they had been given the correct decision, and verify it for themselves. Technology is such a wonderful tool  The expense was worth every penny ;)

welldone to all the runners ,glad i didnt have to call that finish in real time,tech/ does have its uses a great addition to the nationals esp.as the owners can see it to.shame we couldnt be there but to far for doing in a day see you all at the next one, which i think will be even bigger and better

If you cannot play it directly right click the second link June & save the file. You should save the .mov file to your PC & then play it from there using your QuickTime player or whatever player you use to view .mov files.
