Scruples Whippet Rescue's first lady, Molly has now had her xray and the vet has confirmed a definite 4 puppies, with another suspect 2 wriggling around in there

The skulls are small and spines are long, indicating that these are indeed sighthound pups and will emerge, hopefully, as threequarter whippet/quarter GH

Here is her xray picture ........... if you are using a laptop the picture is much clearer if you tilt your screen backwards

She was a little star and only lifted her head very slightly as the xray was being taken. I must admit to having felt very sorry for Molly, taking her, yet again, on a car journey and then leaving her for 3 minutes with another new person. She looked very worried, but when she came back out from the xray room her tail went round and round like a windmill and she jumped up to greet me

She is now sleeping beside me and we can relax a bit and hope for an easy whelping for our little girl :luck: :luck:

i'm sure i can see at least 6 noggins in there

Awwwwwww thankyou Jane for putting her xray on here :D ........so please they are sighthounds pups :sweating:

Now we just cross our fingers and hope everything else is plain sailing for her.

Bless their little souls  Did he say when they should be due? Thanks Jane for keeping us in the loop :huggles:

Poor girl, she must have wondered what was going on, glad she was happy to see you again xx All I can see on the xray is a bunch of spines that look like wriggly worms! Hope she has a peaceful time now until they are born xx

Awww bless Molly and her (possibly 6!) babies. I'm so glad she's in safe hands .. the alternative doesn't bear thinking about.

Brilliant scan

I hope all goes well at the birth of your first

give her another kiss from me jane x

Bless her  She must be wondering where on earth she is off to next each time she goes in the car  That said, all the car journeys have been made with lovely kind people so perhaps that will be the association she makes.

I'm sure I can see 6 spines but my eyesight is not always the best!! We will see when the time comes...... Maybe we could run some sort of competition... Time and DOB, number of puppies and sex? Small entry fee and, of course, all proceeds to Scruples :-

:luck: :luck: to Molly for a safe and easy whelping.

I've just counted at least seven  But she's a superstar and all will be well I'm sure :D :* to Molly

How lovely to see the scan of Molly's pups. It is wonderful to hear that she is being looked after so well :huggles:

I can see at least seven, how exciting!!! I am sure she will have no trouble whelping, probably in the next few days? They will drop back and down and she will have hollows behind her ribs as they get into position for birth.

Bit of advice, don't let her eat all the after births, a couple is enough and they can give them the squits. Also don't start banging food into her too soon. Egg and goats milk is good, light meals for a couple of days then introduce her normal diet. As the pups grow and start really drawing on her i would feed her ad lib.

Good luck.

Thank you, Anne :D I really appreciate all the advice, as you know this is a first time whelping for me (w00t)

I have been giving Molly egg and goats milk for breakfast already - she loves it!! She is currently having 3 meals a day and her weight at the moment is 16kg (of which the puppies probably represent about 4-5kg). Molly herself stands around 18 inches tts.
