i was just wondering what the general oppinion is on the age for the first vaccination

of puppies. i know that some breeders give the first vacc before they leave for their

new home at 8 weeks, others say that it is better for the new owner to do it at around

12 weeks. i have tried to do a bit or research into it on the web but nearly every site

says something different. one site even recommends waiting until 22 weeks due to the

implication of over vaccination being linked to autoimmune.

i have always been very pro-vaccination and my last litter were all had their first before

leaving me however with all of the conflicting oppinions i am unsure what to do with my next litter.

any advice would be appreciated.

Every litter that I had over the past 40 years was vaccinated between 6 - 8 weeks. No problems with autoimmune diseases. I cannot see how would vaccination "over stimulate" the immune system. Every creature is bombarded by pathogens from the moment they are born, and that makes their immune system to develop protection against variety of diseases. Vaccination is only another way of exposing the immune system to pathogens.

Actually, it is being considered that many problems in children are caused by our homes being too clean. Children growing up in 3rd world conditions generally do not suffer from asthma or other allergies; but take little african child to western countries and they have the same chance suffering from these sort of problems as kids born there.

My pups always have their first vaccination at eight weeks and then their second one two weeks later.

Ive just rang my own vets this morning enquiring about doing my new pup.....8 weeks and 2nd one at 12 weeks.

 the immune system does need to be challenged to keep it 'pep' but the allergies and ails of children in 'advancing societies' is less about living in a sterile environment and more about the chemicals we use to create that sterile world,

we spray our crops with insecticdes/fungicides/weed killer/fetilizers etc pump our livestock with growth hormones and antibiotics then load our foods with 'additives' wrap it in chemical leaking plastics wash it down with water tainted with gender bending hormones baste ourselves with carcinogenic but oh so sweet smelling lotions and potions. we expose our systems to 100's if not 1000's of chemicals each day and then wonder why our kids get sick.

i don't worry all that much about the dead pathogen i vaccinate my puppies with but do worry about chemicals used in it's production,

i will be vaccinating my puppies though in the conventional manner until i have looked properly into homepathic nosodes and concider it safer
