This Sunday saw the running of a new club trophy and that of an increasingly more popular trophy. The new trophy is the Celt Cup, kindly donated by Dave and Lynne Thomas, in loving memory of their fabulous champion Conway Celt. The cup is run for, as a supreme trophy, with the winners of each weight group in a run-off.

The second trophy presented on the day was the Back To Front Award, donated this year by Louise Simmonds. The object of the race is that the dog that is placed last i.e. the slowest dog of the day, wins the prize. This is an annually presented award with the previous years winner providing the trophy for the next year.

Lightweight heats:- Whiphaven Mighty Mouse, Xplicit

Final:- 1st Xplicit, 2nd Bee United, 3rd W/H Mighty Mouse, 4th Conway Tear

Heavyweight heats:- Bowans Dream, Spennells Valley

Final:- 1st Spennells Valley, 2nd Bowans Dream, 3rd Blueberry Super.

Celt Cup:- a very close finish resulting in a win for Spennells Valley, just pipping Xplicit on the line.

Back to Front Trophy:- Last and therefore winner of the trophy was Yagans Dream, 2nd Blithe Spirit, 3rd Kangarooby, 4th (and fastest dog in the race,) Whiphaven Mighty Smidge. Lord knows how I work out the club points for that race.

Many thanks to all who helped out. Things ran smoothly. Welcome to Tracey who came to visit, and hopefully join, with her beautiful puppy Beau, and also to the guy whose name I shamefully cannot remember (early dementia) who raced Blueberry Super and Blackthorn Bob. We hope he too will join the clan.

The 'regulars' decamped to the pub for lunch and a drink. A good time was had by all.

We had a great day and lots of fun :thumbsup:

Daisy let me down badly but I'm sure I will speak to her again soon (w00t)

Well done to Spennells Valley :thumbsup:

oh yeah Congratulations Yagans Dream for robbing poor little Daisy ;) we will see you next time (w00t)

What a day we had! An emotional day too as the Celt Cup, donated in memory of Penny was competed for for the first time. Penny has left a tremendous hole in the Conway household, but her daughter Conway Tear (Tia) does many things at home like her mum Penny used to do, so is a comfort and constant reminder to Dave and Lynne of their wonderful little girl. Penny will never be forgotten at Gloucester :huggles:

The finish for the Celt Cup was very close, with Spennells Valley coming out the winner - we were thrilled for Rob and Kay who are such a lovely couple, and of course Macey :thumbsup: Well done Xplicit (Penny's son) who put in a good run.

The Back to Front trophy was brilliant! Where else would you win a trophy for coming last? :teehee: We all wanted to win it, and we had some good laughs joking that we had knobbled our own dogs in order to win it. My darling Smidge who never wins usually, won his heat and the final, which made him in his usual place of last :lol: Well done Pearl and Dennis with Yagan's Dream - it was lovely to see you again :huggles:

Thanks to Lou and Simon, and June and Roy for lending their dogs for Barney's trials.

We retired to the pub for usual discussion of the day, and good laughs in good company. Looking forward to next week :thumbsup:

Oh, nearly forgot ..... slight correction to the lightweight cons final - Conway Belle was in white :thumbsup:

We had a lovely day at Gloucester nice to see you all again, great results, sorry lou :thumbsup: we are back in training for next year x

Hi all

Many Thanks for our warm welcome on Sunday, Bo really enjoyed it and slept the rest of the afternoon!

I have dug out her Pedigree Cert and will bring with me on Sunday. Her breeder is Jenny Whitehouse from Drayton, Taunton - fantastic lady

Dam = Notabene Ruffle

Sire= Fosseland Hawksby

I was also pleasantly surprised that as advised by you very knowledgable whippet owners - YES her little white tip does come from the laguna line on her Dads side (Laguna Light Speed)

I cant wait for you all to let me know more about her background.

See you Sunday

Tracey & Bo
