Hi,

me and my whippet are currently training for obedience competition and I was wondering if there was anyone on here competing? especially in the bristol are? i would love to chat to anyone who is involved in this!

I am going to check out a class tomorrow to see if one of mine will take to obedience and if he is any good I hope to try him out at competition in the future

aw hope you enjoy it, Ollie has taken to it really well, he absolutely loves it! even the retieve!

I am in Bristol, and have been wondering about doing agility or obedience with my Merlin - would be very interested to know where you go with your dog, which evenings they operate etc?

Another useful list of APDT trainers here if you look at the 'local trainers' page, many of them do classes in obedience and/or agility. All APDT trainers are committed to kind/reward based training (sadly still not the case with all trainers or classes)

The Whippet Club has an obedience section, if you go on their website and contact the obedience rep., Sharon Dalgleish she may well help you.

her phone number is 10398 371378.

They have a show in the summer and various training days which Sharon can tell you about. I never get to the training as I am too far away but they sound really good, but I do try to get to the show, and it is fun, not too intimidating and not a Border collie in sight!

Good luck with your whippet , I have had a lot of fun doing obedience with mine.

I go to agility at Diamond dog training http://www.diamond-dog-training.co.uk/ its brilliant and at the moment its on sat and sun mornings, would be nice for another whippet to go as im the only one at the mo! they are based near Clevedon.

We also do flyball, on sun morn, which is based near Blaise castle henbry with the "Bristol Ballistics" and Ollie absolutely loves this. And then the obedience club which i use is Little Posset, based in portishead, i can give you the number if your interested! its on a thurs evening.

Dont let all the usual collies ect put you off, ollie is taking everything in his stride (touch wood!) and im having alot of fun with him.
