I am looking for good warm and waterproof coats for my whippets and thought I would ask here on what everyone advises.

I am in the far north of Scotland and it is already freezing with high winds, sideways hail showers, rain and seriously horrid.

Tonights showers were of the soak to the bone in 30 seconds type so the dogs have not been out.

I have been looking at various coats but really am looking for the warmest I can find for them so we can go out no matter how wet and freezing.

My other question was how do males manage in coats with the strap? Do they not get peed on?

So what does everyone recommend?

These coats are excellent - I have them for my dogs and the Bluster Coat is completely stormproof, withstands torrential rain and very warm whereas the Hi-Nec Black Zipper Snood is lightweight and breathes whilst being waterproof and warm too

My boy whippet wears either coat with no problem - the belt comes exactly in the right place so there is plenty of space for him to pee without hitting the coat :D

Hi

I live in Wales so get cold wet windy days regularly, my Whippet hates the cold, he managed last year, but we had to put 2 coats on him sometimes, his fleece and wax, and wrap a scarf round hid cold ears,

So this year I swore that I would save up and get him the best warm water proof coat around,

It is made to measure using your precise measurements and size build of your dog. I received mine in less than 2 weeks even though it came from Australia, we had the Alfresco coat from http://www.whippetwear.com/ their communication is great and I would buy from them again, of course you want the best you will have to pay more for it. :-

We do have other coats made here from uk http://www.collarsrus.webeden.co.uk/# we have 3 from these they are very good and well worth a look, prices are very reasonable indeed, communication again is brill and delivery is very quick, I have just ordered some PJ'S for my dog as it gets cold at night here! They arrived in less than a week too. We also have a coat from http://www.greyhoundproducts.co.uk/Default...x?ProductID=192

we have a warm fleece from here and no problems again, good luck to you.

Ps forgot to say, my boy has no problems with Nature!! while wearing his coat

They are gorgeous but soooo expensive, would cost me a small fortune for 3

I recommend coats from Sues pet supplies, they dont have a website but they are specifically made for Whippets. They are long lasting & I have coats that were bought many many years ago(20+). They are well worth the cost & depending on the use, will last longer than the dog it was orginally bought for.

I have Sues contact details, should you want them, pm me(I dont like to put it on an open forum without her knowledge).

Yes I know they are expensive, but they are very worth it, no waterproof better, like human waterproofs the best cost more. i did say I saved up, forward thinking. But the other coats I have are good too, collars R us do a warm snuggly coat for winter at much reasonable rates, in fact you could probually buy 3 for the price of 1 from whippet wear!

If I lived up there I would deffo save for them maybe for next year. Good luck let me know what you get in the end.

Citycroft Coats do some nice ones....try the Market place on here...and also Collars r us do coats too....both of excellent quality.

Ive also had coats from Jans Greyhounds gifts....

link... http://www.jansgifts.co.uk/list.php?type_id=112 Blizzard Coat

I think they are about £18.00 and waterproof too....all the coats I use have a strap

and all my whippets are males, they do get peed on occasionally, but I just wash them through and re-spray with with a good

waterproof spray.

I recently got Flint a coat from Ebay....its excellent quality too, Im really pleased with it.

Heres the link for you....
