Dogs At A Fireworks Dispaly Again

it never fails to suprise me that peole every year take there dogs to firework displays. we have just got back from our local display at heaton park in manchester. we have gone every years since my kids were tiny and up till now i was allways please to say i had never see whippet owners stupedly taking there dogs to a display untill tonight when there were 4 lovely whippets at the fireworks. they whent past and were in front of there owners on there leads but its a shame there owners could not see the look of fear on the poor dogs faces as they pulled to leave.it broke my hart seeing there little faces i dont care how well you think your dogs react to fireworks this place was nosiey there were huge displays going off aswell as a fairground kids screaming a huge bonfire ect it would have scared the most relaex dog. do owners realy think there dogs like this. all pets should be inside curtins shut tv on and someone with them just to check there ok I hope one day the rspca turn up and see the state some of the dogs there get in i am so mad
 
my 3 couldnt careless about the fireworks, they all went out for a pee while some were going off and not one ever looked up, when 2 doors away were setting off rockets and all the loud banging one, smokey watched out the window, and definatly wasnt scared, BUT i would never ever ever dream of taking them to a display, thats just rediculas, all it takes is for one firework to just give them that little fright and they could rip the lead out of your hand and be off, the things that could happen in that case are unthinkable!!

even though i do still take them out for a pee they are all on a lead no free running as you just dont know what might happen, iv been places where the firework has accidently shot along the ground.

i dont think i would have been able not to say somthing to those people its just shocking!!
 
Mine isn't scared at all of fireworks......that said I wouldn't dream of taking him to a display!

He is at home on the sofa on 5th november and only pops out for the necessaries......mainly because we have some delightful local teens who find it funny to throw bangers and I would rather he stay in than get caught up in their little"games"
 
I Agree with you Wendy ,.

I feel pretty much the same when I see folk dragging dogs around agri shows and the like , Why would a dog enjoy seeing loads of legs and the risk of being trod on ! ?JMO

We all like to be with our dogs but Im sure they would rather be at home .esp I can t believe anyone one would take adog to a bonfire party (w00t)

The onlyones of mine that went anywere other than in the garden last night were the twins. They went for a quick walk when I got home from work just after 6pm. It was raining and so not many fireworks were going off. They were totally unbothered by them even though I thought Simba might have been.

Even so I would never dream of taking any of them to a fireworks display. It is just to frightening for them all those very loud bangs going off one after another.

I agree as well Wendy, what I hate is the way fireworks go on and on these days. :rant:

When I was a school kid (many years ago) I remember the last thing teachers used to say to us on 5th November was “make sure your dogs and cats are in tonight, and that the curtains are drawn with the TV or radio on”. :thumbsup: This was good advice but now the fireworks are never ending. :rant:

Last year I heard them every night without fail from the end of October to the New Year. :rant: I don’t wish to be a killjoy but there needs to be set nights for fireworks we shouldnt have to put up with them every night for over 2 months. :rant: This way we would know when is safe for our animals to venture out without being scared half to death :rant:
 
I fi could have gotten out of the car and over to them the air would have been blue never mined full of smoke from the fire there poor little faces were petrifide and i will know them dogs again f i see them and i wont keep my mouth shut if they looked that scraed after the diplay had finishe god knows what they were like during it. i felt sick. i pray one year the rspca turn up and see these idiots with there dogs as this is a huge very loud display
