We are celebrating today because Serena owned by our dear friends Julie and Andrew Brooks has reached her 17th birthday. Serena (along with a bit of help from Judy and Nigels Time Flies) gave us our little Dangermouse, who went on to have Mighty Mouse and Moondust, and we now have the 3rd generation Smidge, Barney and Candy.

Serena did everything in racing that she could do - never out of the Top Ten throughout her racing career.

She enjoys a life of luxury in retirement, and commands the best place on the couch, which she shares happily with the girls Leah and Emma, and the rest of the Pearlway Pack! Happy birthday to Leah today also, as she shares Serena's birthday!

We hope she continues to be well, if a bit deaf and doddery!

I was going to post a picture of her, but can't for the life of me figure out how to get it off my phone! I saved it, but can't find it anywhere!

Best wishes Serena, from your extended family xxx

Dead right she has Jane! A whole family of whippet servants. Julie and Andrew's daughters Leah and Emma helped out so much when they had Smidge's litter, and they were quite young, but very responsible. Consequently Smidge adores all little girls, he's better now, but when he was younger he used to wet himself with excitement to see them!

We couldn't forget Sam (Blackbird) Jane, Serena's only brother. Only the two of them in the litter, but what racers they turned out to be - happy days!!

I managed to get the recent picture of Serena off my phone at last - I hadn't ticked the save box - duh!

Here she is having a well earned rest, the day before her birthday.

What a lovely photo of her. Happy Birthday Serena. She still looks exactly as I remember her and the resemblance to her brother Sam is quite striking.
