Overnight there was no signs of improvement and this morning at 9.55am the vet called me to say she was worried about her and that we were stuck between a rock and a hard place as we did not want her to suffer but also we had one more dose of treatment. We agreed I would get ready and go down and see her for myself. As we were talking I heard the monitors trigger and the vet announced she was in trouble and would call me back.

Kat rung me back two minutes later to say that Eve had stopped breathing but her heart was still beating intermittantly and that we just needed to get on and let her go. Eve left us just after 10am. As heartbreakingly sad as it is I will always class her as one of the lucky ones, she made it to where she needed to be, was loved, spent Christmas in a home and had the best treatment money could buy we didnt spare the horses and she left this world loved and cherished a Greyhound Gap dog, so many of the countrys strays never make it that far.

Eve I am so so sorry that we could not make things right for you and I will always be greatful to you for fighting whilst you could and by sparing me that decision when there was no fight left and chosing your time to leave us sweetheart.

Rest easy sweet girl, gone but never ever forgotten our little Christmas *Eve* angel.

Thank you for your thoughts.

Devastating news. Poor little angel. Why is life so cruel.

Rest in peace poor little Eve. I had only just read your previous post. Makes me realise how lucky my own little Pixie is to be warm and well fed, healthy and loved, compared to the poor dogs you see so many of. Best wishes to you and the other dogs rescued.

Thank god for all you wonderful people out there who make a difference to the lives of those dogs less fortunate than our own.

Holly and Pixie x

This is heartbreaking news, :'( :'( :'(

Poor little love, RIP little Eve

She had the best possible care and it is all you could do.

A big thank you to you and all the people like you that go the extra mile for dogs in need o:)

That is such sad news for all involved with little Eve.

She may have gone to the bridge but at least she got to spend some time in a foster home were she knew nothing but unconditional love. What would have happened to her had Gap not come along that day and taken her away to be a gap dog is not even worth thinking about. She left for the bridge with a name and with the love of the Gap and the people around here and the knowledge that not all people were cruel and heartless.

RUN FREE EVE

Our thoughts are with you Lisa and Eve's foster family today.

Such sad news, rest in peace little Eve and heartfelt thanks to her foster family.

I'm so sad and sorry for that lovely little girl - sadder perhaps because I was going to run it by my husband to ask if we might adopt her to join our little pack. Life is so unfair, rest in peace little Eve.

So sorry to hear such upsetting news about Eve. :( At least she was loved and cherished at the end of her short life. Well done to everyone involved in her rescue and care. My heart goes out to you all.

:( So sorry to read this Lisa. Poor little Eve had obviously fought as hard as she could and it is so sad that she didn't have the strength to carry on. As has already been said, the one consolation is that her last days were spent being loved and cared for, thank goodness that she came into Greyhound Gap's care. Bless you for trying so hard for her.

Run free little one

Devastating news, I'm so sorry Lisa - thinking of Eve's foster carer too :'(

Run free little one :huggles:
