:teehee: well if it's here, this is Lucian...he is my 1st show greyhound and i doubt he'll be my last! (w00t)

He is my special little man :wub: He's almost 9 weeks old now.

Here is my lovely hound Bella , she is a retired grey and 3 yrs old and has been with us since Aug 2010 , she has settled really well and is a joy to have in the house ! She has been accepted by my male lurcher and they have made a lovely pair ! ;-)

She has a lovely face. They are such nice dogs and so many end up in the wrong hands. Well done for taking on a rescue. Mine is now seven, I have had her from a pup, show bred. Daft as a brush and loopy with it. She's black too.

For some reason the blacks are always the last to get homes. There are always more blacks needing homes than any other colour.

She is a little beauty and in such good condition now , she has responded well to training as she is o food orientated and the clicker works a treat ! she is good with all dogs so far and people , do you mind me asking is there a difference in greys that are bred to show , sorry if thats a stupid question I am new to this ! and yes the black beauties always seem to get left in rescue , personally I think they are great ;-)

Show greys are generally bigger, heavier, have really deep chests and a flatish back.

I tried posting a photo, it won't accept it.

Show bred and racing bred Greyhounds are very differnet , like two different breeds . I started in Racing greyhounds in the 60s and when I showed one at a companion show in the early eighties and won my class ! I thought id get a show greyhound , but didnt really like them , they are so much bigger, different shape,head etc and for me were not what I wanted , so I went to a whippet , and one day I will have anther greyhound , but not a show , give me racing bred everytime
 
Hi I'm new here!! I've been popping onto this site over the last few days and decided to join as it seems very friendly and helpful.

We're collecting our very first greyhound on Sunday morning and are so excited!!

Hi, as promised here's a couple of photo's of Manny - he's settled in like a dream, so placid and well behaved. He's stolen all our hearts and has been here for less than 3 weeks!! :thumbsup: Just can't imagine life without him now.....aaahh.

Must agree Jackie, the Greyhounds seen in my youth were much smaller than the show hounds, I couldn't believe they were the same breed when I first saw a show greyhound.

just like to say hi to all, the site looks good I have just adopted my first greyhound uner very sad conditions it was my sister in laws dog she has just passed away and i could not bare to not see him again so we brought him home my children love him and my home seems a bit more complete I keep trying to puesude my husband my donnie needs a freind but at the moement he says a big fat no lol
 
Bless you for adopting that poor dog - you won't regret it because greyhounds are the dearest dogs ever and no trouble at all.
 
1 Greyhound is definitely no trouble :* o:)

2 at 18 months is a bit more interesting :sweating:

2 at 18 months and a 15 year old Collie (make that any age Collie!) and it's almost a handful :charles:

That lot plus 2 young cats..... :rant: :pirate:

My Greyhound Skye, I rescued her when she was 9 months old after she was thrown in the kennels because she wouldnt work. I love my girl x
