Hi I am Ron from candada I just bought a lurcher pup. The sire was a greyhound and the mother was an old english sheep dog collie cross. The pup is 7 weeks old and quite thick in the chest with thick legs, she is built heavier then I was expecting. Will she thin out as she grows? I am hoping that she will be fast because of all the game available to us. Our last dog was fast, he was great at treeing wild turkeys. Turkeys will run ahead of slow dogs into thick cover, but a fast dog will scare them up into trees to get themselves shot for thanksgiving dinner. Can lurchers be trained to hunt birds as well as small game? I am sending some pics. Thanks

not sure how fast itll be when finished growing but its what id call reverse bred having a longdog sire and a pastrol dam which will mean it will throw to the sheepdog far more than normal.it really depends on the size and shape the parents were and think more sheepdog than greyhound

yes looks far more to the sheepdog than the greyhound, No doubt will be alot quicker than just a sheep dog, but to me looks like a very very heavy set dog.

Pretty face too
