well... I saw this little man on carrickfergus pound pics on facebook, and thought oh isnt he lovely

really thought he would be reclaimed or booked very quickly, so i thought nah hes not meant for me.

but found out his due date out was today, i phoned up about him this morning, and found myself up at the pound 'just to visit' this guy...

well... hes now in my kitchen, lying sleeping and looks as if hes always been here

hes painfully thin, may have a minor skin problem, but hes got a beautiful nature, knows how to sit, and knows what a fridge is for

wont touch tinned food, or dried, just picked at it. but the smell of cooked ham drove him daft, so hes definately hungry. i went to feed my other dogs raw chicken, and he went mad to get out to them, so gave him a chicken piece, and he devoured it, so explains why he didnt eat much in pound.

hes got a vet visit this afternoon for a checkup, and to check his skin etc, and we think hes around 3yrs old.. and thought of calling him Jake

heres a few pics of him

well the vet thinks hes about 4-6yrs old, but hes very active, inquisitive, and nosey lol

he knows how to sit, he doesnt pull on a lead, and knows what kind of food he likes.

the vet reckons he has a mild form of mange, not the contagious one tho, its been brought on by stress of probably being a stray, a week in the pound and being so underweight.

so he gave me a topical treatment that covers worms, fleas, mange and other stuff, 3 month treatment, and hopefully that'll do him

if it doesnt, he will need the medicated baths, but will cross that bridge if needs be.

hes had first vaccs, and other than the skin and skinny, he got a clean bill of health.

hes settled in well, and once hes put some weight on, we can get him neutered, and microchipped (w00t)

Wow, he is thin. He will soon pick up. Well done finding him and giving him a home.

sounds like he has a mind of his own and is not clueless about food ;)

Jake sounds good or Josh. keep us posted as to how he gets on

well my son is Josh! (w00t)

so think Jake will have to do :clown:

Aww he's lovely  poor little thing at least he's found himself a loving home now good luck to you both :luck:

he,s lovely  good luck with him.

He is a skinny wee thing, I'm sure you will soon get him settled in, well done for taking him on  . How is the lurcher girl you took in? Did you ever hear how her pups turned out?

the lurcher girl i took in is coming over to the UK to a greyhound rescue on Sunday.

They have some exellent home offers lined up for her.

She needs a home with more space than we can give her here.

She will be missed alot here.

Her pups have turned out well, I see 4 out of the 9, and get regular updates from the families.

Bless you.... :huggles: :flowers: ...he is beauitful and bet hes really grateful for his new loving home.

All those little ribs showing ... bless you for bringing him home. Looks a little sweetheart

What a very lucky chap. He looks so thin but as if he knows he is home now. Wishing you all the luck in the world with him. xx

What a little sweetie! I find it so sad that at some point someone has taken the trouble to do some basic training with him, it's the rejection of a once loved dog that I find so difficult to understand. The advert for the Dogs Trust, where the dog is left tied by the side of the road watching his owner drive away reduces me almost to tears every time, imagining what must be going through the dog's mind :(

:luck: with Jake.

He is lovely, well done for giving him a good home. He looks very cosy in his new bed and im sure he will soon fatten up with all that chicken. I think he suits jake too. Good luck. Kathy and Joey xxx

He looks like a sweet little boy who has landed on his feet.

Only just seen this and what a pathetic sight he is. I'm sure he will come on in leaps and bounds now he's in the right hands. Well done you

How sweet...best of luck. Mine wouldn't touch food when we got him, but he got there in the end!

jake is coming on great, thanks to a raw diet

was at the vets today to get 2nd vacc, and we weighed him.

he was 13kg (w00t) 2 weeks ago he was 10.5kg

so a great weight gain in a fortnight.

have reduced his food slightly, so he can put the rest of the weight he needs to put on.

hes lost that emaciated skinny look, skin much better, and hes playing with other whippet and loving life :teehee:

Well we definitely need another photograph. Several would be better. Glad to hear that he is doing well.

Lukkylady - Lukkyjakie more like! how perfect for him to been found by you - Juley is right, we definitely need to see a photo of him - without the ribs!!

Hats off to you for your compassion. x
