The whippet I took out of the pound can pull abit on the lead.

Because he had a bit of a cough going on, the pulling on the lead can make it worse

was thinking of a halti or gentle leader, can these be used on a whippet? and are they secure enough that they can wriggle out of it?

I've used a Gentle Leader on a Whippet and would say it's fine - I have a really strong pulling Whippet boy (who I could NOT walk without a headcollar on, he is very strong), who twisted a Gentle Leader about on his face and rubbed a bit, so now I use a Dogmatic head collar - costs about £17, £18 but it cannot be twisted about.

I bought mine over the internet from Dogmatic www.dogmatic.org.uk/ and got the padded synthetic one.

this make was recommended by friends who have German Shepherds and Clumber Spaniels and I would not be without my dogmatic collar

i used a halti on my whippet bitch pup because she pulled all the time when walking after using the halti for 3 days the difference was amazing she no longer pulls and no longer needs it and is back on a normal lead and collar best thing i did i recon

cheers, ive only got this guy a week, but hes wuick to learn,

will try him with a headcollar

Same here with my boys. The Halti was a godsend and neither use it now.

I bought 2 gentle leaders for my pullers, wouldnt be without them now...

I can walk all four of them together now...no problem.
