RSPCA is killing animals...!this is true story:

Little baby squirell was found on the road and rescued by nice human being. Little cute squirell was in good condition, lively and eating well.

RSPCA was called to take further care of the animal as it is public supported animal charity which ,one would believe, should be helping animals.

But this is not true!

RSPCA officer "Kerry" from Woking branch picked the squirell and decided that the litlle poor creature will be pts, and that was end of short life of this little baby.

This is horribel act of a charity which relys on public support and which misleaded public trust by being dishonest to the person who wanted to help an animal.

Please, think twice if you want to donate money to RSPCA...there are other charities who actually help animals and do not kill them!

Unspeakable and shame on RSPCA!!!!

was it a red or grey , thought grey where thought of as tree rats ,they are not even protected by the hunting laws ,but agree with the rest of post about rspca

Once caught I think it's illegal to let a grey squirrel go... I might be wrong...?

You are now allowed to release captured or rescued grey squirrels if you have a license to do so - which the RSPCA has according to this article:

http://business.timesonline.co.uk/tol/busi...icle3378581.ece

However they are considered vermin in many areas and of course are a threat to our native red squirrels. I wonder if the OP would have been so upset if it had been a baby rat?

Where did this story come from? If the wild squirrel was in good condition, lively and eating well as stated, why was it just not left alone? Why call the RSPCA?

It may have well been eating well etc, but most of these animals die of shock anyway.

Grey squirrels are vermin & nothing more than tree rats, not that I condone doing away with them, but money could be better spent (rather than wasting time & money on nursing it back to health - if it was fortunate enough to survive the trauma) on other animals with much more serious injuries / disease.

Much kinder to have just put it to sleep IMO - sorry!

Rspca officer was called as the baby squirell was too young to be left on his own...but of course, now we know not to contact rspca and rather deal with wildlife rescue centers...

As beeing supporter of RSPCA, this incident shocked me! I did not expect this from "animal rescue charity"!

Very upseting...and of course will not support them anymore...will rather give money to charities who do take care of all animals..

In my opinion the RSPCA are a total waste of space most of the time anyway....I gave up giving money to them ages ago...

exactly, they only deal with the usual animals and complaints but any real case they ignore.

I a few years ago reported a horse that was locked up in a stall (he could turn around) there was no lighting, no bedding, they fed and watered him but that was it. his hooves were over grown and he was extremely thin.

I heard about the horse and one morning very early decided to go see for myself. it was true, you could see the poor animal had been there a while in this state.

so i called the RSPCA whilst sat outside the stable yard, crying my eyes out. The said they would pass the information to an officer.

then a week later i checked on the horse, and another week later i checked.

I called the RSCPA no less than 3 times, and 2 months later the horse was still the same, so i found the owner myself, and had to buy the animal off them.

It took my lots of money, and several vets visits to get the horse back to health. luckily he was friendly and didint hate humans.

After 2 years the horse looked how he should do, but he was lethargic, and lazy, and looked quite ill for the 2 years it took to recover, apparently from teh vitamin D he had been lacking, and the nutrients he had missed out on, he was severely anaemic too.

After a few more years training i sold him to america as a top class showjumper, he now has an air conditioned stable, and flys all over the USA jumping. Iam very proud of myself.

Needless to say when i called to pets at home on a weekend and the rscpa are stood begging - i dont shead a penny to them.

and my next story - we went on a cruise in December. I had booked (due to my small zoo at home) and pet sitter/dog walker to care for the animals.

and my husbands daughter who was 16 (lives ta her mums a few miles away) was going to call in every few days to check everything was ok etc

the pet sitter did 1 day and buggered off. they didnt give me a phone call or anything! didnt leave a letter and was never to be seen again..............

my 16yr old step daughter looked after all our animals as well as went to college. but because she wasnt about 24/7 (bearing in mind she was stepping in for the full time pet sitter) someone called the rspca and they came to check she was caring for the animals correctly and then when i returned did 2 home visits to check the animals were being cared for....................

now im pleased that a neighbour was prob worried about my animals which is fine, but seriously to check on perfectly healthy animals twice was wasting money!

Glad the horse that you cared for Tinker, is now back to full health...thanks to your kind act (not the RSPCA_) well done you.

yes its those sorts of stories that really put me off them.... I pet sit for cats and small animals when owners are away too, I wouldnt be able to

sleep at night..knowing I had abandoned those animals.....

Tinker - that is an interesting tale - it shows the RSPCA in their true light. I donate to several small local animal charities run by people who really care and appreciate every penny, old dog bed, blanket, second hand collar and lead they get.....all to help hard up animals.

No w, if the baby squirrel could have made a good news story Im sure the RSPCA would have seen it differently.

I agree with all other posts about them , They really are a waste of time

The N.I. version, the U.S.P.C.A, are ten times worse. They don't take in stray or unwanted animals any more, only cruelty cases. So an abandoned animal is just left to its own fate. Some prevention of cruelty there. They'll prosecute an elderly person, who loves their animals, but maybe have fallen on hard times and are not able to keep their pets how they would wish, instead of supporting and helping them. Worst of all, when Panorama investigated dog fighting in N.I and named and shamed the top men involved, not one of them was prosecuted. I could go on and on. Needless to say I would'nt give them a penny. Thank God we have some brilliant rescue centres here.

(w00t) Last summer, afriend of mines' father had the misfortune to hit a low flying Barn Owl. Much to his distress, he knew the bird was injured, and, as he is of a squeamish nature, he took the bird to my friends house to find the best course of action. My friend contacted the R.S.P.C.A. duty office, as it was after midnight and was told an officer would be with her presently. Three hours later, a very disgruntled officer arrived at her house and proceeded to complain about having to travel over fifty miles to "see to" an injured bird. When he was presented with the now settled bird, he took one look at it and said that the wing was broken and without another word wrung its kneck in front of my friend, saying it was kinder. Now I'm no expert, but I do know that Barn Owls are struggling to survive and surely, even if it couldn't have survived with one wing in the wild, there are plenty of owl sanctuaries that could have taken it and allowed it to live out it's life! Who knows, it may have been able to be used in a captive breeding programme. Before this incident, I had already ceased to donate the R.S.P.C.A. as a result of a lack of a caring attitude from several other occasions and I would urge other people do the same. If you are in the fortunate position of having money to donate to a charity, then support them in your local area, where you can see what is done in your name!
