Where has everybody gone? :( i think its really sad what has happened to this site. i know there are people who don't get on, and there are some people who post just to antagonise others but those people can be ignored or reported. I have met some really nice people through this site, Even though I am a relative newby (and that in itself can be a problem for some?) I just wanted to say i think its soo sad that a few idiots can spoil something for everybody. Come back peeps Missing all the lovely photos posts and comments!!

I'm probably gonna get slated for posting this but i don't actually care. It may make a difference it may not but its worth a go.

I think a lot of folk are still there and use the forum but perhaps do not post as often.

Perhaps it is facebook :(

Hopefully, things will pick up agian and popularity tends to cycle

with me it no more internet so i borrow my pals when i can but ive never forgotten the site or my password

With me a lot of it has been the bullies who feel no one else can have an opinion, who also enjoy hijacking friendly threads resulting in them being closed, which gets tiring and annoying and in the end you give up all together!

i just gave up posting and posting pics , somones always gotta be nasty or critise, cant be dealing with all the negativity on here sue , shame used to be nice forum :( i lurk now and again but thats it.

Thanks for replying peeps. I just think its so sad that a few spoil it for the many. and yea i'm on facebook but id rather be on here espescially when if i comment on too many doggy pics people will think I'm whippet obsessed, (which of course I am but on here thats Ok cos so is everybody else :teehee: ). Also missing the advice I've needed advice a couple of times recently but not bothered to ask because of possible unhelpful critiscism. i just think everybody on here shares one thing, we all love our dogs!!! so I cant understand why people can't all get on and just respect one another and ignore the idiots who reply to threads with the obvious intent of starting trouble. i only wrote this cos I noticed there was a birthday wishes message and few replies and I thougth to myself, "god when I first joined there would have been loads of people saying happy birthday". i hope yer right Eve I hope it is just a cycle :)) Sue

Hi, I must admit that it saddens me that the forum isn't used much any more but I'm as guilty as everyone else who's deserted! In my case it's more to do with Facebook than any squabbles as I never really got involved with them. It's so much easier to post photos on Facebook without having to go through something like Photobucket. And it's also good to be able to comment easily on a specific photo. Though I do think the quality of the photos is better when posted on here.

I still look at this site every day but only post now and again. I have a bit of a soft spot for K9 even now - it was the first whippet forum I found after our first whippet, Josh, died back in 2005 and it was great to be able to see photos of everyone's whippets and it was lovely to introduce Muffin to the forum as he was only about 9 months at the time. I think round about that time was the time I first got really into the internet too so I loved it.

unfortunatly a lot post on facebook as they can set up private sites and slag/insult and generaly post anything they like which most of them wouldnt say to the people concerned to their faces, we were recently invited to join a very nasty site on facebook which we removed ourselves from, stuff that wouldnt be allowed on k9.

It felt to me like we wernt allowed a diferent opinion to others & some slated pastimes which are undertaken, because they didnt like that particular pastime!! I rarely post on here now but do pop in from time to time.

I still come on here every day or so to see if anything's happening; I miss what it used to be like but I think a lot of forums have lost out to the likes of facebook and/or twitter. :(

It would be a shame to see it die away IMO.

I'm like Gillian I am on FB but i prefer K9 because it wasn't too long after we had our 2 that I joined and being relatively new to whippets, I used to love reading all the advice threads and being able to get advice when necessary. cant the moderators step on bad posts sooner if they see people are having a spat? i think it should be each to their own and I can't see why we cant just all respect difference and the fact everybody has the right to an opinion and thats Ok because its difference that keeps things interesting. I do have to say i don't know anything about the separate FB site that has been set up but I don't think I'd use it anyway cos I'd rather post on here. Oh well fingers crossed people come back.

I am biased.

I would not have my ferocious little Daisy Dot  if were not for k9

Her owners asked for help on k9 as they could not cope with a new baby and her health condition.

They loved her to bits but were at their wits end.

Some members got together to help the owners and she came up here to Scotland.

A subdued, very unwell little whippet has become an absolute Madam and rules the roost. Her health is stable and she is loved by all.

K9 is still the place for whippet based help and advice.

Facebook will never replace the wealth of knowledge concentrated in one place that is found on here.

Most of my Facebook friends and good friends that the whippies and I see regularly for walks etc are a result of K9

I am grateful to the folk that keep K9 going

i look on here every day but don't post much

cant cope with the nastyness some ppl cause

if i see a post that is asking for help

and i can help i pm them

i also have made some lifelong friends thanks to k9

I have been a k9,er for years, and always look every day at new posts.

I think its a shame when a sensible debate starts,as soon as it heats up,it gets removed.

If people cannot give a true opinion, then they will not bother.Yes,you do get idiots, but thats life,

and if they are ignored, they will disappear.I must admit, that my piccies etc,i now put on Facebook,

just a lot easier.I still think k9 is a great forum,i like to see other peoples pics, and always try to comment,

i ,for one, will still come back every day for a look..

Amanda..x

cant the moderators step on bad posts sooner if they see people are having a spat?
unfortunatley mods are dammed if they do and dammed if they dont, we try to allow freedom of speech but sometimes its a fine line between the two and what a person involved or their freinds may see as unacetable to others not in the know it may seem like genuine post?.

I'm still here on and off. And I'm still as friendly and as helpful as I ever was. But frankly I don't really see the point of posting any more. It was Finn's birthday yesterday (4th) and is Griff's today (1st) and once I would have covered K9 in whippet pics on a weekend like this. But a combination of feeling like no one much would see them (self-defeating, I know ... there's no reason for folk to look if there's nothing here to see) and wondering how soon it would be before someone got some kind of dig in ... well, why bother?

I also hate how differences of opinion in the real world become dividing issues on here for people not possessed of all the facts ... and I have seen that happen a fair few times too often, and seen mods themselves become involved.

You're right, it's sad that K9 is so much less than it was :(

What about flagging posts so that if someone has complained and your not sure if its valied let others see its had a complaint and then if more people feel the same you can take it off? i dunno maybe there isn't away round this but its just an idea.

Ann i was gonna put pics up today because we took the dogs to the woods but I forgot to take the camera duuoooo :teehee:

Happy Birthday to Finn and Griff

It is not the forum it used to be, no show people chat on here any more and it seems to be mainly non ped whippets and lurchers. Nothing wrong with that but it would be nice to see people come back.

I am sad that K9 isn't the place it used to be. :( I may be wrong, but I feel a lot of people (particularly those who show) went over to TWF, and then others use Facebook in favour of K9.

It is such a pity as I don't think Facebook can replace K9 for people looking for advice and information (particularly those new to whippets/sighthounds etc). I can't keep up with Facebook even though I don't have many friends (sad I know!!).

I still look on K9 almost every day and really miss seeing all the photos that people used to put on here. I don't show or race so don't have any real contact with other whippet owners, so I felt K9 gave me some contact with other whippet lovers. It was through K9 that I got Remmy, so I am always grateful to the forum for that.

I think sometimes new people would come on her for advice and were met with rather judgemental comments, which probably put them off. Sometimes there seemed to be double standards. We can all have different points of view, but it shouldn't become personal. Would it not be possible for people just to ignore the troublemakers - surely they would give up if they were ignored as I assume they only do it to get a response. :-

COME ON FOLKS, LET'S GET POSTING PHOTOS AND GET K9 BACK TO THE GREAT PLACE IT USED TO BE. :) :)

 :clown:  BELATED HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO FINN AND GRIFF  :clown:
