Hi all,

I have tried to register with the Whippet Forum and just get caught in a circular 'denied access contact admin' which I do to no avail.

Frustratingly, I am just about to embark on showing all over again with my new, specially bred pups and find I have no K9 support/thought provoking network to fall upon - help!!

A few of us are still here. It's mostly non peds, non ped racing and lurchers now. Shame. Try Face book, a lot of people who were on here joined Facebook.

Thanks Rats and Bertha,

I'm really really sad to see that the showing whippet posters have gone elsewhere- surely not as a result of the working dog posters giving their ten pence worth? I thought the 'What should I look for in a stud dog' was extremely interesting when they got involved but it did seem to cause a lot of bother - I couldn't see what the fuss was about, as after all we're all keeping/breeding the same breed.

I hope the showing fraternity come back - I think this was the first UK totally whippet online site - I was an early joiner in c.2000 - it deserves a bit of loyalty having given a unique service for all these years. I may have lurked for many of them, but I've learned some invaluable lessons/facts.

Re. the Leeds results - I'm gutted! I messed up my entry and should have had my lovely new Louis in MPD and only 4 entries in it - he'd have been in with a shout... but very interesting to read - thank you Rats - glad to see the weather held off for them all!

I'm still here from time to time Rachel! :)

There was a recent thread (in Chat I think) asking where had everyone gone. :-

I don't show, race or work my whippets - they are much loved pets.  However, I really used to enjoy reading all the threads, whether show or racing, as well as seeing the many photos. It is my way of communicating with other whippet lovers.

I feel that a lot of the show people and Italian Greyhound people went over to TWF.

K9 used to be such a great place, spoiled by a very small minority, but I tried not to get involved in any unpleasantness. I accept that we all have our own opinions, and it should not get personal.

I am still loyal to K9 and come on here almost every day. :)

I think quite a few of us show folk visit regularly but rarely/if ever post now.

I show my whippet, but I generally prefer the other whippet site :b much more help and info on all aspects of whippets and any debates are never allowed to get out of hand. I also use FB where all my whippy friends are, but I do appear here from time to time too. as there can be some interesting topics too. ;)

We too are not able to access TWF and are on here regularly. Even if I post results I do not always get a thankyou! But nevertheless I do enjoy coming on here most days.

Good luck with your return to showing

It must be an age thing . cos I cant seem to get the hand g of FB , so I come on here and TWF from time to time ,

I think most topics have been covered some time over the years too

I'm the same Jax - struggle a bit with Facebook, although I do go on FB, but mainly to play Scrabble!! I can't seem to keep up with the posts on FB (and I don't have many friends :- , so don't know how people manage with hundreds or thousands friends!!).

I use facebook, but I don't 'get' how it can replace a message board.

I think there's room for both K9 and TWF. I'm on both, I have moderated on both, as well as a global board (US based, but owners from around the world).

I think part of it was the nastiness between the sections of the board, and I think part was that it was pretty much the same info being posted on both, so people tended to gravitate to one or the other.

I check in on both boards, moderate when necessary, it would be nice to see things pick up here in the showing section, so come up with some topics. We can definitely have a good discussion/debate here without it getting out of hand

I do think there has been personal stuff going on behind the scenes, and unfortunately mods can't control that.

As for those who can't access TWF I'm not sure why - you just need to join to read it and if you have a problem contact admin.

The message boards are what we make of them. I'd love to see it not seem like so much of a wasteland in here :)

Glad it's not just me! I really can't get the hang of Facebook!!! Unfortunately my 'puter at work won't let me access this site now yet I can get onto TWF ... most strange and most evenings I can't be bothered going onto my laptop so I only visit every so often

Yes, I too miss the interesting discussions we used to have here. I have learned awful lot from here. :)

I do not like facebook. I am on there, but never post there. I used to look around, but never felt the need to respond to any comment there. I hate its superficiality and I have better things to do with my time.

At least with Facebook you know who you are replying to, on the forums its hard to know who folk are with the user names.

I think when Winter returns, there may be more people responding, on the dark cold nights...
