Thank you for letting me know what he is I bought him 3 weeks ago so he is 11 weeks

old now and a very busy busy little chap very inteligent he is keeping me on my toes He has great fun

with bill my 3yr old bedlington but walter wolfhound prays that he is just a bad dream and totaly

ignores him and apart from useing walter as a cushion alf leaves him alone Although he knows the word no

i am at the moment trying to stop him chasing sam the cat who is 19 just when i think i have won the battle

i hear sam growling and alf has sat on him so now i have got a tin of pebbles which i shake

the only trouble is it frightens the lot of them I will try to put a picture on but i am getting on and do not understand

computers i will ask my granddaughter when she comes round to help me

He is wheaton colour blue eyes and at the moment his hair sticks up

He sounds great :)

Years ago whiplingtons used to be called coney dogs but he is most definitely classed as a lurcher

Hello I'm new to this forum. Had to answer as you've been told your dog is a lurcher. This may be just a local thing but I have always understood a bedlington crossed with a whippet to be a "Coney". Also (and again I may be wrong?) but quote: "any whippet or greyhound bllood in a dog makes it a lurcher" I don't think that this is true? A proper lurcher has lots of collie(smithfield) in it? Many dogs said to be lurchers are actually "running dogs" or "long dogs"???

As I understood it a "Long Dog" is a cross of two sighthounds. A "Lurcher" is a sighthound crossed with any other breed.

Any sighthound cross is a Lurcher, any 2 sighthound crossed is a longdog.

Is Alfie, who is gorgeous, a 1st cross, because with a blue bedlington with any colour whippet will

always result in black pups which later turn the blue which we all recognise as the beddy/whippet.

I did hear if you use a liver/sandy bedlington you will get differnt colours but ive never seen a

litter from this coloured beddy.

Can you tell ive been reading up on these while looking around for one :teehee:

hes a lurcher but we do at times some people will be different, to me when i was younger i always clased a lurcher as collie grey but so many things av changed, the smithfield was a good allround lurcher, be carefull poppyh not to scare and frighten your your lurcher while shaking that bottle of stones you dont need a scared lurcher on your hands, best of luck and enjoy ohh another tip watch your joints on sunday lunch times heheheheh

These definitions are pretty fascinating  I'm not sure whether Spot is a pure whippet or has a touch of greyhound in him (he was advertised in the ad as whippet greyhound).....but it doesnt really matter does it? He's my daft pup (w00t)

thats right foxglove, not sure what mine is but looks whip x grey im happy thats what counts yeah,
