No racing at wessy this afternoon sorry! Electrical fault is wiping out all the power to the track. He's got an emergency electrician on the way but unknown if the problem can be fixed quickly so unfortunately we have to cancel. So sorry for the inconvenience. Jacqui.

Please pass on to anyone you know who may be coming today thanks

Had a few who are local say they'll wait things out on the chance we can run in time. Jason has said he'll ring me at 1pm with an update and if its repaired we can run. I shall let you all know as soon as I do.

No racing guys sorry! Anyone thinking of getting a trial tomorrow morning with ghds had best check first with track as they may be cancelled too.

Thanks Jacs   for being on the ball saved me a trip --even though i was looking forward to going --

steve

Hiya Steve, we tried to secure some dates this month but with bend racing every weekend we decided to wait and see before booking any. Since then, Ellesmere port are holding a Derby on Sundays so the knock on effect is that westhoughton greyhound meets have been moved to saturdays during this month.

The following future dates have been secured for us:

Sat 5th Nov

Sat 19th Nov

Sat 10th Dec

Sat 17th Dec

Please can racers look carefully at this months whippet news. The Valentine / sailaway open is being held at Highgate stadium not Westhoughton.

Because he having greyhound racing same day

hi Jacs is there any running this week ?

steve

hope this isnt the end of whippet racing at westhoughton

roger

Jason's put a statement on Flappers Dream saying Tonights racing cancelled as not enough dogs entered also talks of it closing if things don't improve would be a great shame if it did, you would think he would welcome the whippet club being there every week as did Rod & Louise and Highgate do, after all its revenue

The least he could do is get back to Jac and be up front let her know where we stand, there are other tracks wanting the whippets on such as Ellesmere port and Highgate a little further afield but if Westhoughton doesn't want them its their loss

It's a shame for the club as we'd had some brilliant turnouts this season, the track & surface is the best we've run on in a long time and give Jason his due he prepares it immaculately, better than a lot of GBGB tracks, the going is consistent for each meeting and no inside/outside bias.

There aren't enough graded greyhounds to hold 3 meetings a week which is what he's trying to do at the moment, and that's resulted in tonights card being scrapped. From what i've heard when i've been recently Jason is open to offers for the lease and there are a few people interested in taking it over so watch this space with regards to us being on there next year, it's certainly not the end of whippet racing at Westhoughton.

There were only 3 club meetings left for this year anyway and i think the majority of us have come to the conclusion that we can't currently club run, those with youngsters to school will still get trials on Wednesday & Sunday mornings at the track, also Ken & Mark have used the schooling track at Tricky Kennels, Bradford and highly recommend it too.

Can we find out before friday instead of last minute if there is racing so other arrangements can be made

Craig, its not on, as has been explained.

Alternatives have been suggested which hopefully will be useful.

I can't see an explanation for no racing only he's cancelled greyhound racing if that's case see y'all next year

As I've said Craig, we've been given no response. The only response was when Mark went down 2nd November and was told we're not running. I've rang and texted since, no response.

Prior to that we was cancelled at short notice.

Now I take all this as a hint he's not interested but if you feel its worth contacting him yourself, by all means do.

I did offer in the 1st place but was deemed not the man for the job

Craig I couldn't care less who organises Westhoughton, if you think you'd be best dealing with him, then by all means go ahead. Keep us all in the know with how you go on and best of luck :luck:
