Just found out on Hunting Life and subsequently removed my ad, any ads over 7 days old will automatically show all your contact details... including your full address and postcode. I can't believe they're allowed to do that, surely it almost acts as a directory for dog thieves!

You can choose yes or no to show your contact details on the ad, but it doesn't say anywhere that your contact details include your full home address:

"Would you like your contact details displayed to buyers?

NO YES

We recommend choosing ‘YES’ as buyers will be able to contact you by phone or directly to your email account.

If you choose ‘NO’ then you will only be able to be contacted through Epupz.co.uk. We will conceal all you contact information, so any buyers will only be able to send you and email through Epupz.co.uk site. The draw back to this is that you will need to visit Epupz.co.uk or your email account to pick up messages."

If any of you have pups/dogs advertised I'd remove them or at least change this setting to "no" if you can.

This has been the same for at least a year to my knowledge and you have to be a registered member to see the details. When I was looking for a Lurcher pup last year I eventually ignored any ads which didn't show the contact details because I found that messages were either ignored or just not received by the sellers.

I have no problem with my email and phone number being displayed which is why I ticked yes, but I don't agree with having my full address and postcode listed. I think it's dangerous and unecessary. No one needs that information until theyve actually spoken to the advertiser and arranged to meet.

After registering i just edited my contact details in my account to show a phone number and part of my postcode (just deleted last 2 letters) so people can get an idea of distance to travel when they view my ad and can call for details as messages often dont get through, they can't get my address from the details on display
