Hi everyone I am writing this hoping that one of you may have had a similar problem. My 7 year old Whippet Bullitt has been going down hill now for about 6 weeks. Until then he was in normal health

He has seen 3 vets including a specialist in Leicester and we still cant find out what is wrong with him.

He started to get very fussy about his food and started to loose weight before this he would eat anything at any time. He has lost almost 4Kilos now and is all ribs. His wee is very brown but poo normal. He was sick dark stuff twice about 4 weeks ago.

He is having problems breathing and its very laboured. He is very lethargic and when we go out for a walk he can hardly keep up with my normal walking pace.

He sleeps a lot of the time and is not interested in any thing, even our other whippet.

He has had blood tests that show is anaemic but they cant find out why?

He has had x rays that show nothing on his chest but he cant breath properly. He had two lots of antibiotics to no avail an anti inflammatory liquid to put is his food nothing has worked.

His fur has started to go very white on his face? Not sure if that is related? If anyone has any suggestions or had the same with their whippet or another breed please PM me

yours in desperation

Fortunately, I have not had anything like this. However, from your description, it would suggest some sort of internal trauma. Maybe even a slow bleed from a possible obstruction. Personally, I would strongly recommend that you seek an urgent appointment with Richard Torr at Canine Sports Medicine at Shepshed. If anyone can get it sorted, he's the man! Good Luck with it ang hope you can post some good news soon. :luck:

My thoughts are with you and Bullit. Please keep us posated on his progress. :huggles:

Im afraid we have made the descion to put Bullitt to sleep tomorrow he has many complications and we dont want him to suffer. It has been a very tough choice but we always said we would want our dogs to go with dignity and he has been such a good freind to us I know we are doing the right thing.

Thanks for all your support at theis difficult time :(

Regards Petula X

Very sorry to hear your news. RIP Bullitt

Thank you everyone Bullitt fell asleep at 4pm today.

I hope he is at peace chasing rabbits somewhere.

Thanks to all the people that PM'd me and that I spoke to on the phone I couldnt have had more support anywhere. He was a brilliant dog and we are all going to miss him very much.

When my partner had an accident that left him disabled Bullitt was with him 24/7 for almost 4 years so as you can imagine it has been a hard blow for him to take. Inky has never been alone in his life so we all have some adjusting to do.

All I can say is thanks again and we shared our lives with an amazing dog who everyone loved. RIP Bullitt always in our hearts.

Such a sad time for you and one all owners dread. Rest in Peace Bullitt.
