Help and advice please will be showing Danny, 23 months, for first time next week need to get show lead, have Luxway catalogue but where do I start, what length, width, is leather best etc. Newcomer to the show scene, have started ringcraft but no other whippets there!!!!

Best ones we brought were leather with slip chain collar not too long... cost approx £15.00 each.rcptp said:

Thanks very much. We're in South Wales. Danny's- Vanjonstone Fox Fleet, Sire is Elvencharm Zola at Turnstone and Dam is Turnstone Foxy Dreams. Dads a JW but mum has never been shown. First show is on 25th at Monmouth, getting nervous now but Danny doesnt seem bothered, suppose that all that matters.jools said:

As for show leads I have several different types the same one does not necessaryily work for more than one dog. Bandit wears a nylon slip lead but his son Blaze hates it and makes himself sick with it on.My greyhound is usually shown on the same sort of lead but suddenly decided he didn't like it fortunately a friend with ridgebacks lent me a fine brass choke chain and he loved that and showed really well I now have to get him one. I am lucky as I have quite a few leads to choose from and swap round until I find one each dog is happy with.I will point out I would not use a choke chain on any of my whippets

I try to match the colour of the leash to the dog's coat, so it is as invisible as possible. Sort of silvery grey for blue brindle, beige for fawn etc. While I choose the colour of my clothing to contrast my dogs. Never wear clothes in colour that match the dog, it is hard to see the dog properly in the lineup if he just blends into the background.
