Hi can anyone tell me the main diffence between race bred and show line is it just speed or is there size difference as well?

Thanks kenny

Yes Kenny i second that i have a show whippet but my other 7 are racing bred i do club race at my local club which is the Scotiish Thistle which is just over the Kincardin Bridge but mostly i do the opens and champion ships down South as that is what both me and my husband chose to do if you want to run with the best and i do mean the best you do need to travel but if you are just looking for some fun for you and your famiy you could maybe get a show or maybe coursing bred up to you mate as long as your whippet has a loving forever home thats all that matters do come along to our club and have a look at the show and racing bred dogs then maybe you and your family can make your minds up then you will be made very welcome hope to see you soon

Hi Kenny got to agree with Mandy you need to come along to the Scottish thistle and see the racing its a great day with lovely people and see all the different types of whippets. We are really lucky at the club to have all different types of dogs inc pedigree whippet champs,Beagles champs, non ped whippet champ and lurcher champ all running most sundays at the club and its a great experience we are new to the whippet racing aswell over the the last year and its been a great enjoyment with lovely people to help us along, hope to see yous soon.

Generally speaking, the faster they are the uglier they look

Mine are beautiful (w00t)

I like the old fashioned show whippets. They are much smaller than modern show whippets.

Lilly my 17" blue brindle is my ideal.

My two male whippets are from show lines on their dam's side and working types on their sire's - they are both big healthy boys at about 22" to the shoulder and 17/18 kg. I love all whippets but I do prefer the bigger ones, perhaps because I grew up with bigger dogs (an Afghan hound and various collies.)
