Many of you know that myself & Judy moved to Portugal last year to lead a bit more of a relaxing life, enjoy a bit of sun, meet new challenges etc. Well, the move went very well & we are both feeling very settled here now. That move has meant that we don't have the involvement with Whippet racing that we used to have & has also meant that K9 hasn't had our full attention over the last year.

The exciting news for everyone is that K9 Community has a new owner. K9 Community is now in the hands of Geoff (Big Paws ). Geoff is a very capable UK based web developer who has always loved dogs & is the proud owner of a border collie cross. He's now looking to combine that passion with the skills from his day job to further develop K9 Community. K9 Community will continue to be a site where owners can come together to chat, share advice and discuss all things dog!

Can I thank all the moderators for the hard work they've put in over the years and thank all K9 members for making the site such a success. Without you K9 wouldn't be what it is today.

Judy & myself will continue to be around for the coming weeks to help with transition. After that we'll drop in now and again but will otherwise leave it in Geoff's capable hands. We would both like to wish Geoff great success with his new venture & I hope everyone will welcome him & his fresh ideas.

Pleased to hear that you are settled and are enjoying your new life in Portugal. Wishing you all the best for the future. A big thank you goes out for all the work you have put in making K9 the place it is.

Hi all,

I'm the aforementioned Geoff!

As Nigel explained in his news post, my 'day job' is a web developer and I'm also the proud owner of a lovely collie-cross. I'm now looking to combine the experience of the former with the love of the latter!

I'm really keen to build on Nigel and Judy's good work and ensure that K9Community continues to thrive and grow.

I'm on MSN Messenger and Skype and it would be great to chat to as many of you as possible.

Cheers

Many, many thanks Nigel and Judy for all the hard work you have put in over the years to make K9 Community such a great forum. Lovely to hear you are enjoying life in Portugal.

Thank you Nigel and welcome Geoff!!!!!!! :luck:

Huge thanks to Nigel and Judy for all their years hard work on the site. Certainly if it hadn't been for k9, I wouldn't have got into racing, made the friends I have or met my partner for that matter!

Welcome to the site Geoff and best wishes for the future. :luck:

Just one thing........

When you getting your first whippet?!!! Lol! (w00t)

Thanks Nigel and Judy for all your work and best of luck for the future

Welcome to K9 Geoff sure you'll do a great job you just need to get a whippet now oh and a caravan for the whippet weekends :teehee:

Thanks for all your kind words.

It's really sad leaving a part of our lives that we've been involved with for so many years (K9 & Whippet racing)... but it's the right decision. K9 has a new enthusiastic owner & I'm sure there are many exciting improvements planed.

We have a new life to carve out in Portugal but I'm sure we'll drop in to a few race meeting in the UK when we visit.

Thanks again to everyone who's made K9 such a success!

Nigel and Judy glad to hear things are going well in Portugal.

Geoff welcome to the madhouse ;)

Many thanks to Nigel and Judy. K9 has been a wonderful comunity where I have made many friends and recieved wonderful advice.

The whippies & I wish you a wonderful new life in Portugal.

Welcome to Geoff.

Facebook and the odd argument or wrangle has lessened the amout or at least frequency of visitors.

Hopefully by broadening the scope of K9 many more people will share the benefits that I have enjoyed.

Wishing you luck :luck: :luck: :luck:

Hi Eve,

Thanks for that and I know Nigel and Judy are reading this topic regularly too :)

With regards to Facebook, we're going to take the 'battle' (for users!) back to them this time. We're going to have an active Facebook page (like us http://www.facebook.com/DogForumUK) as well as Twitter, etc.

:)

It's ages since I've been on to K9 but I'm so pleased to see lots of familiar faces still here. I also want to say "hello" and "good luck" to Geoff, and a massive "thank you" to Nigel and Jduy. You've made a fabulous friendly forum here, and I certainly owe my whippet love affair to stumbling across the forum one day back in 2004

Enjoy Portugal! Lucky things...
