Hi,

For those of you who haven't heard the news, I've taken over the site from Nigel and Judy. You can read the news (and post your thanks to them) by going to this news topic.

So, what's happening to K9Community?

* We will continue to have a strong focus on whippets, lurchers and greyhounds (all sections will remain)

* All section leaders, club/group forums, moderators and posts will remain unchanged

* The K9Community.co.uk web site will remain online

But what about the changes? and DogForum.co.uk?

* The forum area of K9Community will be renamed to DogForum.co.uk

* As mentioned above, all existing K9 sections, posts, etc. will remain

* But new forums, for other breeds and dog related discussions, will be added

* The forum software (last updated in 2008) will be brought up to date

Sounds intriguing, but why change?

By broadening the site's scope, it will hopefully flourish once again and become one of the UK's main dog forums. We're not moving away from being a great site for whippets, we just want to open our arms and welcome in new users and different breeds. If you don't like other breeds :- then that's not a problem, you can just stick to the whippet/lurcher/greyhound section on the new site and ignore the 'newcomers'

I appreciate that's a lot to take on and there will no doubt be some concerns. I hope you'll contact me at support@k9community.co.uk or by private message, or by posting a reply to this topic.

Finally, I need some volunteers to help become moderators - so please contact me if you're interested in that too.

I would like to wish you all the best with k9's future and though im only active in the racing section , I still would hope this forum gets its strength back again as alot of us racers rely on k9 for up to date info and downloads for opens .

Good Luck

K9 is a fab place for all its members as Trish has said a lot of updates regarding the racing is done on k9

Wishing you all the best hopefully with new stuff added we can recharge k9's battery and get the forum back buzzing again

Thanks Trish :)

Yes, we will really be pushing to reconnect with the various clubs to ensure the site remains up-to-date.

We're also offering those clubs that don't have a web site, their very own www.something.org.uk address which will redirect to their area here.

Lots of ideas in the pipeline.

If you have a suggestion (someone just emailed me about the lack of editing rights) then please email me at support@k9community.co.uk :)

Good luck with the new venture and thank you for your e mail and letting me know. I am primarily interested in non pedigree whippets and have been for over 40 years but I am interested in other dog sports also especially flyball

Hi Rocky, thanks for the suggestion of having a future area for sports like flyball - would that be something you'd be interested in helping with? If so, email me at support@k9community.co.uk

Would be nice to see K9 up and running again

Good luck with the new venture, I hope the forum goes from strength to strength with the new additions :luck:

Good luck with the new-look K9 :luck: Thank you for your email, it reminded me I've not been on here for ages and how good and helpful it always was to a novice whippet servant

Terry, Spooky and Scout!

Thank you for sending me an invitation to the group. I joined a couple of years ago and haven't been active on the site (sorry). At the time, as often is the way, needed some advice on my retired greyhound and that was it. Had forgotten my password but it is now reset and I look forward to joining this newly revamped forum.

I hope I can contribute. I have just returned from a holiday in Greece, for the first time doing the journey by car and ferry with our 9 year old greyhound. Quite a lot of forward planning with regards to pet passport, dog friendly ferries, accomodation etc etc. I will browse through the site properly and see if I can add our Odyssey somewhere apt.

Good luck with the new site.
