Hi, I've not long had my whippet (he's 15months old), so I am new to the world of dogs. I am interested in finding out about whippet racing...fun racing for him, but I can't seem to find where there is any. Does anyone know of any whippet racing in Dorset?

Many thanks

Susan

Hi Susan, welcome to the forum, I am not aware of any racing in Dorset itself but my local club is Andover which I would think maybe one of your closest pedigree clubs? or maybe Taunton?

For more information, our website, with directions and calendar is http://www.andoverwhippetracing.btck.co.uk/ We are racing this sunday and I am sure you would be made very welcome if you wanted to come along and find out more.

Best of luck with finding somewhere to run your pup

I second what darcia has said. Andover is probably your nearest and its a super |club, very friendly and always willing and happy to help novice racers and new little whippets. look forward to meeting you there somtime.. have a go ,you'll love it and will be hooked for life.. not to mention meeting lovely people and making life-long friends.

Hello,

I think that Taunton will be much closer for you than Andover (according to AA route finder its about 45 miles and 1 hour, depending on where in Dorset you come from, where as Andover is about 60 miles and 1hour 30 mins)

We race at the Polo fields most sundays please come along to say Hi and see what it is all about, or you can ring Margaret for a chat first on 07928423734

You would be very welcome :- )

Directions to the polo field are here:

LoL Rae - you made me have a look at a route planner too, it seems that Snugglebunny is almost identical distance from both clubs as from Wimbourne to Andover is coming up 47 miles and about an hour too, its good to have a choice of local-ish clubs to go to, Im so lucky where I live with a choice of Andover, Oxford, Gloucester & S Cots all within an hour or so drive. Hope you are well, have not seen you for a long time

Really looking forward to it! Only just saw the post on our FB page saying it was going to happen - they have been some of the best days of the summer so nice to fit one more in. I will bring my camera ;-)
