What they mean by Free Range is that dogs get to socialise in large paddocks during the daytime (unsociable dogs or family groups can have a private indoor kennel with access to private outdoor run. It seems to work for them. I read a recommendation from someone whose dog didnt thrive in other kennels. The Copied Hall kennels people handfed him for a couple of days till he adjusted.

I couldn't open the link either but I did google it.

Personally, I would rather my dogs were locked in by themselves, that way if there were any injuries, I would feel better that it happened between my own, rather than feeling it was someone else's fault. Also......the 'girls pen' where in heat bitches can socialise..........oh.oh.....how long would it take a dog/bitch to climb in or out of that wire pen.............not long, I would imagine, if their hormones were driving them on!

I used to work iin Boarding Kennels and practised this form of lodging with many dogs, it was done on my instincts and never had a problem, I must say though, our fences were a LOT taller than those in the pictures!

Our dogs loved it and used to drag their owners through the reception area in their keenness to get into the runs to see friends!

The paddock fence isn't particularly high is it! I would rather my dogs just had each other for company, although they are all sociable and enjoy playing with strange dogs on walks I would worry about a pack of unknown dogs left unattended. Although their will be staff on site they are likely to be busy and if a fight broke out the rest of the pack could turn on one dog, doesn't bear thinking about.

given that an on heat bitch within scenting distance can make dogs 'competetive', I wouldn't be comfortable leaving mine to mingle in a pack of dogs

Is this form of boarding legal in the uk? It is a number of years since I read all the boarding licence criteria
