me dogs are going mad them bloody bangers are like bombs,, these things should be band

Im dreading this weekend and Monday as I think it will be bang bang for the 3 days. Im getting a cage out the hut as I need to sedate Robbie and he hate's being in a cage. We had one huge bang the other night and Gizmo started to panic, so might have to get another cage for him out the hut. Hate this time of year,as Im shit scared the dogs have a b@@@dy heart attack.

trouble is its not only on bonfire night its being going on for weeks near me

and it goes on for weeks after atb with your dogs/animals over the coming week

i have 5 dogs and only 1 is real scared of fireworks he will be in the house and sedated on monday saying that there must be a do on tonight as they have been going off for over a hour :(

As you say, there must be something on in this area, because they've been going off for well over an hour now! I'm lucky in that my dogs don't react to the bangs etc., As a matter of fact, if they were any more relaxed, they'd be comatose! Good luck to all of you who's dogs are upset by them!

we went out in the car last night and a idiot threw one at the motor

im not kidding it was that loud i nearly crashed the car,and tonight they playing in the back street

i wouldnt care if they walk 500 yards they can go and let them off on the beach

and with a bit luck a big wave will come in and wash the little sods away

Huge bang went off and Gizmo ran about then jumped on my lap, Robbie never heard it as he just lay on the sofa, think he going a bit deaf now. Looks like I will need to sedate them both. Going to the vet on Monday to get the right amount of tablets for Gizmo as Robbie gets 2 1/2.

dont get me started please i hate them with a passion, its not just the dogs issue but how bloody stupid that we celebrate little bombs going off which is in the hands of runts that should be in bed, and also its a massive drain on the n.h.s.

Well said! They're not only distressing for a great many animals but dangerous to humans too.

For those whose dogs do get really upset I've had great results this year and last with zylkene for my collies. The silkens couldn't care less about fireworks but the poor collies are normally demented, digging and hiding while panting, the last 2 times though on zylkene they've been simply mildly upset, still staying on the sofa though :) I started them on it around the 25th Oct and will keep them on till after this weekend just to be on the safe side, same thing over the festive period.

Ban the fireworks?????

When they have been such a part of our lives for so many decades!!! Surely not!! Spoil the fun??? We must be seen to be tolerant, mustn't we!!!! Let's not be party poopers! After all, it's our choice to keep dogs! We must go with the flow, even if it means distress and fear! Enough said! (Yes, tongue in cheek for the more sensitive souls among us!) o:)

if people cant act properly around fireworks then why should we put up with them, fun fireworks fun your having a laugh or just plain not getting out so much, be happy to know your feeling when your on the wrong end of a firework, its a sad world when people describe them as fun,

Hi Folks, I am as sick of these dammed things and always banging on about them to others. Found online petition to the government asking to at least ban the sale to the general public. Only this week a poor cat had one attached to it and of course it killed it. I found this petition on facebook on the scruples whippet facebook page. They have over 3400 signatures so the more we can petition the better.

I'm seriously ticked. I thinks it's hideous that you need a permit to buy guns, but you can legally buy explosives. I'm originally from Canada, and while we have private fireworks at certain times of the year, they aren't the HUGE banger types. Those are only allowed by licensed people at licensed events. But that's actually a side note.

What I'm upset about is that bonfire night was TWO weeks ago, so on what planet does that mean that this Friday and Saturday I should still feel like I'm living in a war-zone with fireworks that I KNOW were beyond the legal decibel level and dogs cowering. I have one who is terrified of fireworks (used to be two but the other passed away recently), and 4 others who aren't usually bothered, but bark at them. Yesterday (Saturday) was almost worse than the local ones held on the official weekend and ALL of them were stressed.

they should be limited to set weekends, Personally I'd like to see them limited to licensed displays only, but if it can't be that then it should be illegal any other time of the year except the weekend closest to the actual day, or if it's the middle of the week, then the two weekends surrounding it. Beyond that, send them to jail.

I used to enjoy fireworks, I loved going to official displays. There is NO need for joe public to have access to the fire-power in the ones they are buying and selling.

Sorry - rant over. Just sick to death of being held hostage in my own home for the better part of a month

I'm happy for anyone to enjoy fireworks, and I like to see the pretty ones myself but what I don't understand or like is the need for the very loud bangers, they are a million times louder than the ones we had as a child, they terrify animals...and me!

I'm happy for anyone to enjoy them... at a licenced display!

I think it's crackers that the general public are allowed to set off explosives without a licence. One year the house next door to the local petrol station were setting them off too... but you're supposed to turn your mobile phone off incase a spark blows the petrol fumes up?

I don't know what happened last night, but Brude completely ignored the new year ones. He usually pretends not to be bothered, but finds an excuse to be nearer to a person than usual when they're going off. You should have seen the looks he gave one of our foster dogs who had to hide under the bed one year!
