never been a fan of this track but looking at the pictures alot of hard work has been done well done wessy track owners

Another great day, some nice pups and peds on show and all dead keen. Cleo schooled with marks young black pup, and I was very impressed, good times ly ahead.

A lovely day of trialing yesterday with the sun shining once again.

Pups had a gallop down the home straight to the rag Ayda, Ivie, Moet (Maid Your Point x Mo Chara), Jersey, Molly, Martha, Lilly (Maid Your Point x Sugar Rush).

Mick & Lyn handslipped their two scratch yearlings Spot the Dot & Spit n Image (Just Friends x Marsh Brook Bear) from the first bend and both took the bend lovely. Dave handslipped Maizie full distance (fresh from her WCRA Championship win last week) and looked great. Christine ran her three ped's and all showed loads of enthusiasm.

Cleo (newcomer) had a full distance trial 17.59 and found 50 spots on her time from last weekend where she won the Pedigree class for her delighted owner Ian. Black Admiral (Just Friends x Marsh Brook Bear) had a trial with Miles Away, Miles took the early lead with Sailor catching him between the bends, his inexperience showed when he wanted to pass on the inside but couldn't budge the railer, eventually passing just on the line.

Floless (Wor John x Florence) had a trial in another fast time 14.82 (i reckoned the track was about 15 slow from last weekend).

I missed the time on Moonbound & Red Moon Rising off levels but Moonbound (Hellbound x Moonpie) went away to make a 10yd win.

Marsh Brook Meave (Just Friends x Marsh Brook Bear) trialed in 15.59.

Kind Coal (Hellbound x Moonpie) ran against sister Megapixel and won in 15.01 by 4yds.

Make it Four (More or Less x One for Me) has got the knack of this bend running malarky and went round comfortably in 15.93, next step will be in with another dog.

Whats Your Rush had a solo trial 14.65.

More handslips followed and most had 2nd trials

Special thanks to Ian for allowing us to use Cleo for Meave's first bend pass, she was perfect and very honest which makes her ideal for schooling youngsters, she also loved every minute of it.

Hope to see more dogs again next week.

Kevin wants us to put a couple of sponsored races on between the greyhound card one night, we will have to discuss how we will do this, but it should be interesting.

A pleasant but cold day trialing yesterday.

Nice to see Les and Lynda over, Les kindly brought his hand lure for giving some of the youngsters a trial to the lure down the home straight, all went well and i just know i watched a few future stars starting out in their careers.

Quite a decent turnout really considering it's just 1 week from the bend champs but there's still quite a few dogs schooling so we decided to still run next Saturday regardless.

Times:

...

Make it Four 15.80

Henry 15.36

Sunkist 15.37

Hagler 15.31 / 15.80

Whiskey Fudge 15.87 / 16.00

Mad Jack 15.21

Ginger Red 15.68/15.42

Red Moon Rising 15.51

Moonbound 15.21

Black Admiral 14.70

Gingeroo 15.95 / 15.86

Megapixel 15.00

Anagram 14.87

What's Your Rush 14.50

King Coal 14.84

Mule Skinner Sc - 1st 14.73 bt King Coal 2yds

Peds 16.70 Fawn from black 6yds

Marsh Brook Meave Sc - 1st 15.51 (2nd trial 15.42)

Little Guess 4

Henry had his first bend clearing trial against super trainer Cleo and passed with ease never batting an eyelid in 15.43

Noah 1st & Bod 16.46

Make it Four his first bend clearing trial also against Mick & Lyn's Little Guess and ran up to catch her easily, but once in front looked to have lost sight of the hare, although he won the trial he'll benefit from a couple more and i've no doubt he'll pass and run on strong next week.

Sailor set Miles Away up 3yd and passed coming off the last bend 15.00

Mick & Lyn's two (Just Friends x Marsh Brook Bear) both had handslip trials round 2 bends and looked superb railing and not putting a foot out of place.

As i said earlier trialing will go ahead as normal next Saturday 3pm

We have some impressive bend dogs in the North West, some up & racing and others just in their schooling. Over the coming months we'll have a strong team for open racing so a very exciting bend season ahead for our club.

Best of luck to all those Westhoughton dogs who will be racing at the NNWRF Bend Champs at Highgate next Sunday. :luck:

Another good day at westhoughton, and some nice pups on show. Everyone at the club are really nice and that what makes it more enjoyable. Thanks vicky for the offer about the pup for sale, but I'm just not ready at the moment and I want to learn and digest more about the racing scene and gain more experience. You and marc are both very nice, and I'm happy to listen and take your experience and advice on board.

Love going to Wessy, we are always made to feel welcome. Really pleased with Sunkist having her 1st trial since a toe injury and it did'nt seem to bother her running with it taped for protection. My highlight was Pippa having her 1st slip behind the handlure, we thought she would be keen to chase but she even took us by suprise! Sorry we could'nt stay to give all the pups a 2nd slip but with it being bonfire w/end we did'nt want to be late getting home. Hope to see you all again soon. Regards Lynda & Les
