This years A.G.M. was hosted by Old Hall W.R.C. The refreshments, provided, were excellent and a big Thanks to Shelly for preparing it, on our behalf, before hurrying to work. It was very much appreciated.

After the previous years minutes were read and passed as a true record, it was onto the Election of Officers. Gordon Richardson decided to stand down and we thank him for his work in the last twelve months. This meant that a new Chairperson was needed and there two candidates, proposed. Dean Stockwell and Pat Cope were both willing to stand and so we had a vote and Dean was duly appointed our new Chairman. Welcome Dean! The rest of the Committee were prepared to remain in office for a further year, which means that Sheila Copley is our Treasurer. Shelly Mc~Kay is Registrar, D. Heathj the Secretary and our reps are Karen, Yvonne and Linda. D. Heath outlined the plans for the regions clubs to take part in next years Festival of Leisure, held in Swadlincote in June. Each club agreed to send dogs to give an Exhibition of racing so as to let people know about our sport and try to dispell a lot of preconceptions, held by a lot of people! We are pleased to say that taking part will not cost our region anything, in fact, we should gain as the Council have offered us full use of their public address system for the comentary and are also giving us a stall to use as we wish! The treasurers report was accepted and thanks given to Sheila for once again doing a brilliant job, which meant that the region was still in credit and was paying it's way. Having said that, we all agreed to try to boost attendances at our open events, and try to achieve more revenue . D. Heath said that because of poor numbers at the A.B.C. Open, it was not possible to run L/W, H/W Dogs and Bitches seperate and asked if it would be betterr to return to the original format of All-in? A discussion followed and a vote was taken with the result that it will, indeed, return to All in! Gill Williams asked if it would be possible to give the Dogs a yard sex allowance in regional events and this was seconded by Yvonne. A vote was taken and the motion was defeated.

The winners of the Regional Velvet Jackets were kindly announced by Karen, which were as follows;-

Scratch Winner - Elaines' Just Jen, runner uip Kaths Who Knows

Veteran Winner - Lees' Spot Black, 2nd Fiddler and 3rd Fat ~Boy Slim.

Yearling Winner - Donnas' Miss Dream, runner up Daves What a Dream

Puppy Winner - Stumpys' Annies' Dog, runner up My Classical Beauty!

Dog Winner - Jake & Marys' Kansas, runner up Classic Rock, 3rd Our Frank!

Bitch Winner - Dees' Piccolo Amico, 2nd Secret Spot, 3rd Our Bea and 4th Ride a White Swan!

Well done to you all!

Neil Gilbert said that running up to 3 different distances at our opens, to accomodate pups, vets etc.,was creating a lot of work for an already dwindling pool of workers. A discussion followed and the meeting decided to put it to the vote, ! That all opens be run at one distance only. This was seconded by Gordon and the vote was overwhelmingly in favour, so the motion was carried.

The Committee was asked to look at the feasability of running a regional bend open, which would only take place if we had Top Ten Status! Votes for 11 Against - 3. Motion carried.

Those present were asked, by Irene, that if it were to take place, then we would need new trohies to be provided. A discussion followed and all would be provided by various members.

On the whole a very good meeting, with lots of co-operation shown, by those present which argurs well for the future of our region.

D. Heath, Secretary.

is it correct the region can have one straight open and one bend open for points ?

Regions can have as many opens as they like Neil, but only one, either bend or straight for Top Ten points...

thanks chris for clearing that up as we were hoping to have a bend open as well as the straight open for points this year as a region ,,,,,neil

is it correct the region can have one straight open and one bend open for points ?
I believe so, Neil! Once the bend champs are done and dusted I will be Contacting Chris about the chances of our region hosting a bend open, with points, as passed at the a.g.m.! If we do not get the points, we will not proceed with it! I will keep you all appraised! X
