A very Happy Birthday to our boy Fletch - NVCh Duncton Dark Legend and his littermates who were 9 on the 25th. They are out of our boy Duncton Legacy and Angie's Savernake Magpie. I hope Raven and his littermates in Cornwall were spoilt rotten just like Fletch.

Here's a recent photo of our boy receiving his velvet jacket for becoming a NVCh at the Nationals.

how many raced and how many still do veteran racing? It will be their last year if they are still racing, I suppose.

We retired our boy after the last National Championships at the end of May - he had won the last two Veteran groups and had gained his Veteran title (although the second was a solo run so doesnt really count) so we thought it was a good time to call it a day. I am not sure that he appreciates this decision as he still loves his racing and anyone who has seen him down near the paddock or traps would testify to the fact that he is still mad crazy for it, however, his feet are bad and being black he doesnt cope with the heat very well so we stopped when the ground was getting hard and the summer was on its way. His sister Raven still trials and ran with a pup at club on sunday. Ive not heard too much about the others for a while, one of the boys had to retire from racing early as he had some health issues and I have not seen the other one race for many years. We only raced our boy very lightly as a veteran, running three Nationals and at one open as a 7-8 year old last year (where he had 3 second places and a win at Gloucester open) and similar, maybe a few more when he was 6-7, obviously he trialled as well but we didnt want to push him because of the reasons given above.
