A Dog's Life, a rescue which helps many of the dogs get out safe from Dunboyne pound (co Meath) currently lists these lurchers for adoption. All are listed as being about 12-18 mos old.

Dicey, young adult male, wirehaired, wheaten colour w

ith dark muzzle. Good with other dogs. A bit shy with people at first. http://www.adogslife.ie/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=306

Buck, young adult male, fawn and white, short coated, good with other dogs. Was a pound surrender in poor condition. http://www.adogslife.ie/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=298

Blake, another young adult male. White and black shorthaired lurcher with gentle personality. http://www.adogslife.ie/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=272

"A Dog's Life" rescues dogs from Dunboyne pound, so if you adopt one of their charges you are helping make space for another dog to come out of the pound in time. Adoption application forms can be found at http://www.adogslife.ie/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=56&Itemid=66

Dogs Trust in Dublin currently has a white whippet and a number of greyhound/whippet type lurchers. Perhaps if you are in the UK and are interested in one of these dogs a transfer and homecheck might be arranged through your nearest Dogs Trust; you would have to ask whether that is possible.

Glencarraig Dog Rescue is a small rescue operation in Dublin which specialises in Border terriers and sighthounds. They are looking for more foster homes in the Dublin area. Among dogs currently needing homes are two females recently released from pounds. I know Keeva (from Irish Caoimhe, girl's name meaning gracious and gentle), a small (~24") black/dark brown greyhound. She is good with dogs and people including children, but not cats. Good traveller, adaptable, generally a calm pleasant dog. Toastie is a white with blue brindle wirehaired lurcher. There's also a small mixed breed female name Chica, also with a good temperament. You can see photos of these dogs at http:/http://www.facebook.com/pages/Glencarraig-Dog-Rescue-Border-TerriersGreyhoundsLurchers/128232200674800 and there is a contact form at http://www.petads.ie/?listing=1357911809433

few of the dogs listed would still be looking for homes, but the rescues continue. Glencarraig is a specialist sighthound rescue, and Dogs Trust Ireland, has quite a few sighthounds at present, as well as other breeds. Both Glencarraig and Dogs Trust are based in Co Dublin. There were a couple of greyhounds in SDCC pound Dunboyne this week and A Dogs Life helped organise rescue places for them with Orchard Greyhound Sanctuary.
