Limping dog

Hello

I'm new here but having been to see the vet with this problem, I thought I'd get the opinion of fellow dog owners...

I have a fabulous French Bulldog who is 2 years old who seems to have developed a limp on one of his back legs - I've been to see the vet 3 times, they have examined him, pulled his leg every which way they could, examined his paw and found nothing??!

He doesn't limp off the lead when he's charging about and seems to limp less on soft ground?! He isn't showing any obvious signs of pain and I too have also pulled his leg in various directions and examined his paws and I didn't get any response either?

Has anyone else experienced this or does anyone have any suggestions for what it might be?

Hey vb.. is he still limping? If yes, would be good to get it on tape to see the limping to see what type of limping it is..

A corn maybe? As you say he limps less on soft ground...

Had a similar problem and the vet diagnosed tendon damage in the toes. This is quite hard to spot but if you look at the toes you may notice a difference in the amount they can extend. We were advised to gently massage the toes especially before exercise and to keep the nails short to prevent pressure on the toes and after about a week the limp was gone.

A luxating patella can cause intermittent non-painful limping, its common in small breeds like Jack Russells but I don't know about French Bulldogs I'm afraid, but it could explain why the vet and yourself can move the leg around and get no pain response from the dog as if it has returned to its normal position it won't cause obvious pain. Talk to your vet and see what they say.
