My puppy is attacking me

I need help I have a 6 month old lurcher X and his training is wicked he does everything asked of him except one thing when I take him down the field to play with his friends he's fine until I have to put him bk on his lead he attacks me showing his teeth and really bites me I am bruised all over my arms from his bites I need to get him to stop and I can't help pls.

Hi do you practice a recall like what you would do at dog training ? Get him to come and reward with a treat or with a favourite toy, you may have already tried this. Another idea I had was to let him run on a long lead so he will trail it and when you want him to come use the lead and treat/toy at same time using his name and "come". His recall is amazing he comes straight bk to me when he's called. It's just when I put his lead or harness on him he gets really aggresive towards me growling showing me his teeth and then attacks me which ends up me getting bitten.

It sounds as if he has got over excited. The treatment for this kind of behaviour is to completely ignore the dog when it is biting. The more you interact the more the dog bites.

When he comes back give him a treat and then quickly drop another one and another one so that his focus is on the floor. Keep his focus there while gently calming him.

If you repeat that every time he comes he will soon learn to look on the floor for treats rather than jumping up at you.

Any biting should be immediately ignored with a word such as "ouch" to indicate why he is being ignored. This is much easier to teach to very young pups but can be taught to slightly older dogs bit it will take longer and require persistence and the cooperation of every member of the family. If just one person continues to interact with a biting puppy it will just make it worse. After ignoring him for biting, for about a week, you can move on to "ouch" and leave the room so that he is isolated. The "ouch" tells him why. It only needs to be for a short while and he will soon start to make the connection that his biting (ouch) is causing him to be ignored/isolated. Timing is very important and it is never and accident he always knows what his teeth are doing!
