Hello everyone

I am considering to buy Tamaskan puppy from the advert below. Does anybody know of this breeder and if they are reputable? I want my dog to be warm and loving to people and would like her to be close to the family and enjoy cuddles. From what I've read Tamaskan dogs have this temperament which is a good thing. But what concerned me is that this is a very new breed so I'm not sure how confident I should be in accepting these claims about their temperament. Also, I understand that the Tamaskan is bred from Siberian Husky's and Alaskan Malmutes which are known for being more independent and less loyal, how is it then that the Tamaskan has such a different temperament?

My alternative would be to get a german sheperd puppy from a reputable breeder (where lineage and good breeding would be easier to verify), but I really love the looks and what I've read about the Tamaskan so this would be my first choice if I could have confidence about the breeder and the dogs temperament.

Many thanks in advance

The advert I am referring to is here http://www.preloved.co.uk/adverts/show/108559384/tamaskan-puppies.html

Dont know the breeder but some tamaskan lines have health problems check that this isnt one of them also £600 plus for one of these is a bit much after all it is a crossbreed

i think if they were a reputable breeder they wouldn't be advertising pups for sale on that website. They would already have homes for the pups if they cared about them rather than the cash. Better off researching a good reputable breeder first, and asking to go on a waiting list for a pup, than buying one off a backyard breeder.

i've looked online as i have never heard of a Tamaskan, seems like a very small community of breeders, maybe worth giving the "club" a ring and see what they say. Bearing in mind the person that runs the club also has a litter advertised.....

I would also do my research and find out exactly what a "good" hipscore actually is, and then request to see all relevant paperwork from the bitch and sire, to see if it all looks ok.

the "breed" wiki entry, and the breed club website, both say that their temperament is a little different to a husky or malamute, perhaps cos of the german shepard in their lines.... This guarantees nothing though, anyone can write anything online! With any dog, you can never be sure of temperament, and with a mixed breed you could possibly be inheriting any of the good or bad traits or health problems, from any of the types that make up your dog..... And lets face it german shepards or huskies aren't normally considered cuddly creatures, despite the fluffiness...

they are good looking though eh? very wolfy, and it would be lovely if they were that bit more biddable (and good at recall!) than a husky, could make a very good companion for you.....

Good luck in your quest to find a good puppy, photo's please when you do get one :)
