Hi I am new to this showing lark with my little whippet puppy, I was wondering what type of show lead and collar I can use, she goes really well in a half check type is this permissible in the ring ( she doesn't like the really thin show collars)

Can anyone help or post some pics of what they use.

Thank you 2013-08-30 18.44.17.jpg

Gosh, 905 views and not a one response? Doesn't anybody come here any more? :(

As to permissible, briefly everything is, apart from dangerous ones like spikes, however I cant think any one would use them with a Whippet. Its generally recommended that you use a thin collar which can be positioned just behind the head, this shows off the dogs long neck properly. Sorry I have no photo showing the type. The colour should ideally be chosen to look right with your dogs colour. Other than that the main thing is to simply enjoy your showing and remember at the end of the day win or not you still take the best dog home with you.

A half check show set if correctly fitted is acceptable in the ring in a colour that compliments your dogs colouring is great, personaly as a lead maker myself , kennel club judge and exibitor i would prefer to see a whippet shown on a kindness loop lead such as one of these http://www.stephaniesmithshowdogleads.com/kindness-loop.html these are great for all breeds and particulary good for pups as the kindness pad helps support the neck , raising the head and as the loop lead is completly adjustable will grow with pup. hope this info helps more designs can be seen on my website via this link http://www.stephaniesmithshowdogleads.com/kindness on whippet.jpgIMG_0607bw.JPGjenson collar.jpgPA140656.JPG21.jpg21.jpgP5241046.JPG24.jpg
