Is my dog a recognised breed she is half springer spaniel half cavalier King

Charles. And if not why not???

Assuming you mean recognised by the Kennel Club. Then no. We have a cocker spaniel and poodle cross and she's not recognised by them either. The breeder told me that a new type of cross breed has to be bred for 7 generations, with very careful widening of the gene pool, before the Kennel Club will be prepared to consider a new breed. I guess they would then have to agree a standard for that breed. Height, weight, colour etc. Not sure if that is particularly something to aspire to however, when you consider some of the Kennel club recognised breeds and the well known problems these dogs are prone to because of the standards required. Bull dogs inability to breathe properly for example.

No it is not a recognised breed. The dog you have is a crossbreed
